What do you do with your clothes that are worn but don't need washing yet?

I chuck mine on the floor at the end of my bed. I pile DD's up on her chest of drawers and it turns into a mountain. I change my pants, camisole, t-shirt and socks every day but things like jeans, knitwear etc end up in a growing heap, and clothes like silk shirts end up hung up on the airer with the drying clothes. I don't necessarily want to wear the same thing the next day and I don't want to put them back in the wardrobe unwashed. What do you do? I googled 'valet stand' but that seems a bit excessive. Maybe just a chair would do...

plastic I'm not house proud Grin. I never iron anything either. I'm sure a lot mnetters will shock their heads at my confessed lazyness.

plasticbanana · 14/05/2014 10:35

ToddleTerror I don't even own a proper ironing board. My ironing pile has been sitting on the landing for 6 months.

If they're clean enough to be worn again then I put them back in the wardrobe. Why not?

MrsPeacockDidIt · 14/05/2014 10:55

C&A ones are the posh ones surely as they are vintage !

MrsPeacockDidIt · 14/05/2014 10:58

I leave my worn but clean items out to air then put away in wardrobe or drawers. Or I would if I wasn't hideously untidy so they actually just stay out until
I wear them again. My bedroom looks like I've been burgled most of the time.

PigletJohn · 14/05/2014 10:59

Clothes that have been worn by a woman are very attractive to moths, so if you put them in the wardrobe, have a moth-killing hanger in there as well.

shoppingfrenzy · 14/05/2014 11:01

I put them back in wardrobe/drawer/cupboard - wherever they live. or on the floor by my side of the bed

bouncinbean · 14/05/2014 11:03

Definitely the C&A jeans are posher Wink!

HazleNutt · 14/05/2014 11:05

Either it's clean enough to go back in the wardrobe, or dirty enough to go in the laundry basket.

ThisBitchIsResting · 14/05/2014 11:08

I have a large basket in my room for tops and jeans etc that are 'semi-clean' ie worn but wearable again. Things like dresses and tops that are ironed I hang on the wardrobe doors' inside, so not visible but slightly away from fresh clothes.

I don't let the basket fill up too much though, but sometimes you don't want to wear the same jeans or jumper two days running. Anything that's sat in there for weeks will get washed and filed away again.

snowgirl1 · 14/05/2014 11:23

I hate the pile of 'worn but clean' clothes lying around the bedroom, so I have a shelf in my wardrobe which 'worn but clean' clothes go on. As well as that, I also hang stuff back up if it's not going to get worn again soon-ish.

HesterShaw · 14/05/2014 11:25

Put them away obviously.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 14/05/2014 11:36

HolyDrinker, my DH is exactly the same as yours with the tidiness.

I have been v smug this week as he has done it to himself, he had a certificate he needs, and 'put it in a safe place' Grin

He's been searching the house, saying, "I know I had it,and then I tidied it away somewhere...It's so frustrating!"

Is it, DH? IS IT!!?? Angry

MinesAPintOfTea · 14/05/2014 11:44

I hang them on a hook and if I don't wear them the next day they get folded and put back in the wardrobe then so they have at least aired.

RonSwansonsLushMoustache · 14/05/2014 12:12

If I'm going to wear something the next morning I'll fold them on the chair. If I'm not I'll put them back in the drawer/wardrobe.

I'll hang a dress or shirt on the door to air and put them back in the wardrobe next day.

DH just piles everything on the chair: socks, jeans, tshirts... Then I come along and sort them according to my the correct system.

KikitheKitKat · 14/05/2014 12:35

I am pleasantly surprised to see all the answers here. My previous experience of cleanliness threads on MN led me to expect a chorus of "Ewwwww you wear things more than ONCE???"!

Waffleyversatile · 14/05/2014 12:48

I have a rail in one of the spare rooms and clothes which i will wear again before washing such as jeans, dresses, trousers etc hang there

plasticbanana · 14/05/2014 13:15

Loooooook! The chairdobe actually exists.

I'm a bit worried about the drawer under the seat though. Is it a commode?

Chairdrobe? I have a floordrobe. I throw everything I've worn once on the floor kick it about and fall over it for a few days and then once a week I wash the things that need it and put anything else back in the wardrobe. I am a grown up with a responsible job.

plasticbanana · 14/05/2014 13:27

You make us proud higgle Grin

tabvase · 14/05/2014 13:38

I don't like to keep clothes I'm not going to wash on the floor - I'm -paranoid-- worried that spiders and dust mites etc. are more likely to get into them and knowing me, they'd be left on the floor for weeks before I wear them again.

So I have a 'laundry chair' (which would be the 'ironing chair' in a perfect world), which I use for all clothes I can't be bothered to put away.

Is anyone else as weird as me?

Lweji · 14/05/2014 14:37

I tend to use a chair, the top of the laundry basket or hang them behind the bathroom door. Dresses I tend to hang back in the closet.
Not a perfect set up, though. :)

LoadsaBlusher · 14/05/2014 19:05

Hang them back in the wardrobe , I don't like things sitting out on view .
Or if wearing the next day ,like jeans or cardi then they get hung on a hanger on top bannister on landing along with the kids clothes, all ironed and set out for that day.
We tend to get dressed in the top hall in the rush to get out of the door!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 14/05/2014 19:12

Back in the wardrobe, obviously. Grin
