The 90's are back apparently. WIBU to buy the Nike Air Max I wasn't allowed when I was 13?!

All the cool kids at school had them.

I wasn't cool enough for Bike Air Max the first time round, and they cost too much for my mum to buy but now I'm an adult and could buy them myself, I'm not sure I can pull them off!

Has anybody bought some lately? What have you worn with them?

Will I look ridiculous? Grin

I'm 31 and always wanted a pair but my mum couldn't afford them. I ended up drawing on my cheap trainers in felt tip, I wrote NIKE and drew a tick. We had P.E on the plating field and the grass was wet so the felt tip ran. Everyone laughed at me Blush

Gazelles are lovely. This thread is making me very nostalgic!

I ordered a pair and was beside myself when they arrived yesterday. They sent the wrong size Sad

I'm 45 Grin

Dd is 11 and she will only wear converse or vans. Even if you couldn't afford the proper ones there are tons of lookalikes out there and dd and her friends don't seem to mind.. she actually wanted the £9 ones from peacocks as they had a nicer colour!

(My post was in reply to the earlier poster asking for her dd aged 10!)

Oh I always wanted Nike but I had ethics problems and my mum wouldn't buy them so I ended up with Reebok Classics. Still can't afford the Nikes now. Bloomin lovely shoes.

God I had Gazelles too! Thanks for the advice peeps...I will get Converse (again!) as you're right...those uber expensive ones are a bit much on a ten year old!

I'm 38 and when I was about 18 I had the suede Converse, can't remember what they were called (not Dr Js) but it took me months to track them down, months. And I only bought them because I had fruitlessly searched for a pair of navy Pumas and there were none to be found. I remember going to festivals with my well worn in Converse on my feet and other people sidling up to me and asking where I'd got them. They went so perfectly with my charcoal grey skinny cords. I do believe I modelled the entire look on the bass player from Smashing Pumpkins and it was a source of real heartache that I did not have waist length hair that I could put in plaits like her.

Anyway, I don't know if it's a mid life crisis or what but I've found myself browsing and yearning for those same Converse all over again, but they seem to be a thing of the past. So now I want a pair of Adidas Sambas. Grin

Northern, I agree the pinky pair aren't as nice.

Definitely going to take the plunge on Friday. Ah, the nostalgia! I might have to buy them from JD Sports just for the nice bag Wink
