Hair issues! :(

I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section but I'm after some advice.

It's rather personal & I'm highly embarrassed Blush . I have a condition called ‘Hirsutism’ (which is basically excessive & unwanted hair growth). It means hair grows on my breasts, stomach, chin & upper lip. There's isn't a huge amount but what is there is fairly dark & coarse.

I can cope (just about) with the hair on my stomach & breasts - as it's not on public display but after years & years of battling the hair on my face, it's slowly starting to grind me down. I have tried shaving (out of desperation), using bleach, using hair removal cream for the face, plucking (although it's far too much to control by plucking these days) but nothing lasts long enough.

Can anyone recommend a product or technique that I may find more beneficial? It'd have to be something I can do continually as this will be a life long issue.

Even better, does anyone else have this issue? What coping methods have you found so it doesn't completely destroy your self confidence?

Is it even worth my energy battling with the Doctors for any help or long lasting treatment/s?

Thank you for the help in advance.

Can't you get electrolysis?

I've heard of people trying threading but it sounds too painful for me!

There's also waxing?

Your GP can prescribe a cream (Vaniqua I think)

Have you got PCOS? Some folk have found that low carb to control PCOS weight also reduces facial and body hair

No No is wonderful. I use it on my top lip, legs, arms, under arms and bikini area and dp does his chest, back and bum!
Expensive but amazing! And no pain Smile (im a wuss lol)

Get a No No from QVC, yes they are £££ (£130 - £194 + p&p , depends on size BUT you get a 90 Day money back guarantee to see if it'll work for you )

Thank you all.

I'm now saving up for a no no. I've seen them advertised many times but was always put off by the price without knowing if it was any good. Now hearing two people recommend it reassures me it's worth the cost.

The contraceptive pill is supposed to help to an extent, isn't it? I do notice my hair growth on legs, bikini line etc slows down while on the pill.
Don't take my word for it though, I'm not sure where I heard that and my slow hair growth might just be coincidence!!

No no has God awful reviews on just about any site I've looked at. Make sure you can return it!

Threading?

nannynoss · 12/05/2014 20:19

Oh also, why not keep a lookout for offers on laser hair removal? It won't cost a lot for a small area like lip or chin. And so worth saving up for.

DrainPhobic · 12/05/2014 20:24

As DDTD says, you really need to Google nono reviews before deciding. They are almost in unbelievably bad!

sorry can't link properly as on the app. I swear by one of these I got from eBay for a pound Grin

Laser is the way to go. Fantastic results. Look out for deals. I would also say it's worth going to the doctor to rule out any underlying cause that can be treated, like PCOS
