Pale foundation.

Hi, just after a. Bit of advice on where to try and find a decent foundation?
I'm very pale skinned, blue eyes. Hair is naturally dirty blonde but I dye it red.
I'm greasy on my nose and chin, but dry on cheeks and forehead.

I'm not looking for something mega expensive but don't want cheap and cheerful.

I don't wear it everyday, I usually just use a bit of revlon stay matte powder but want something with more coverage for when I'm getting dressed up! Not sure if a BB cream would be enough?

I'm using the no7 cream compact one which is very pale but the coverage might be too much. They colour match you which is good though.

Chopsypie · 09/05/2014 10:21

Were they pushy with buying a product? The beauty counter women scare me !

I didn't find the no7 women pushy or scary BUT they don't have a shade pale enough for me. They matched me to 'cool vanilla' but it made me look orange in natural light. I tried the next shade down, which is the palest they go (calilico I think) and this was also too dark. It still might be worth a go though, you may have slightly different undertones to me so they might have a good colour match for you

Estee Lauder double wear light have just introduced a new lighter shade (0.5). I wear shade 1 in summer when I have a slight tan but 0.5 is the only one that I've found that goes pale enough for my natural skin.

I have tried all sorts of foundation, expensive and cheap. The best I have found is Revlon colour stay 24 hours in buff. I'm very pale too and this is the perfect match for me. It also keeps my skin oil free. I had been using studio fix for years but always looked oily and a bit orange after a couple of hours. I also use max factor face finity in ivory as a finishing powder.

Check out make up ally for great make up reviews. Smile

I'm a calico and also a buff in colourstay. Revlon also do one a shade lighter than buff too.

I used to use Maybelline as they have very fair shades but its been a while.

WillowMoo · 09/05/2014 11:25

mac studio fix in NW13 is perfect for me & pretty much as your wish list

geekaMaxima · 09/05/2014 11:38

Lily Lolo mineral foundation in Porcelain.

My skin is so pale, it's practically transparent, and I always struggled to find a decent foundation til I started using it. Just buy a decent big brush for application. If you haven't used mineral powder foundation before, it gives a very natural, fairly matt finish... kinda like I've been airbrushed Grin

Coverage is up to you - use a little for light cover, but you can layer it up by applying a second or third go.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/05/2014 13:10

Revlon colourstay

Chopsypie · 09/05/2014 13:32

I like the sound of airbrushing!
Where stocks it?

If you already use Rimmel go with the wake me up foundation. Best selling in the uk and good reviews. I use ivory which is lighter than true ivory.
I used to use mac nw15 before they brought out lighter shades and I looked like a clown :( also the Rimmel is 8.99 and currently 5 in Asda/wilkinson.. Or it was last week

Justgotosleepnow · 09/05/2014 14:13

Hi have you tried any bourjois? I've got their new cc cream/foundation and it's great. I've got the palest one and it's super, not too heavy just evens out my complexion. Other than that only one I've found pale enough is Chanel, but it's very expensive & I prefer the cc cream.

AmazingDisgrace · 09/05/2014 14:33

Max Factor whipped cream foundation in ivory. I'm dark haired, paler than pale skin, blue eyes so quite typically Scottish/Irish looking

LaTrucha · 09/05/2014 14:37

Max Factor. I've tried others but nothing else will do for me.

Chopsypie · 09/05/2014 16:10

Well I've just bought rimmel match perfection in light porcelain, because i had a £1 off any beauty product and it was already down to £5.

Colour seems a good match, but I'm not sold on the coverage.

Also foundation seems to make my face look hairy. Am I doing it wrong or is that the nature of the beast?

I 3rd Lily Lolo Smile. I'm actually the second lightest shade.

ThisBitchIsResting · 09/05/2014 16:52

I'm pale with combination skin and like Bourjois Healthy Mix serum in 51 'cool vanilla' when on a budget (£11ish) and YSL Touché Éclat foundation in one of the many light shades they do - I got colour matched in Selfridges and it was perfect. About £27.50 but it's gorgeous, makes me look healthy and glowy.

I think if you don't wear it every day then you should get a more expensive one tbh - I wear Bourjois day to day and have the YSL for nights out and it lasts me about a year. Clearly I need to go out more

I also was going to say Max Factor whipped creme in ivory. I wear Liz Earle tinted moisturiser in the day but the Max Factor is my 'proper' foundation.
