Seriously thinking about binning all of my makeup

I have too much. If you were building your make up from scratch, what would your must have products?

OP good idea to try a few counters.

If you want colour and to try more than MAC are good, but I also love NARS, they're just so out there and you can get stuff you (well I) don't see anywhere else.

Bobbi Brown are excellent (better than MAC) at tutorials and no pressure to spend money.

I'd also, bring some products you have now - that you don't NEED to bin then they can work round that with you. say what you want. In fact if it's in my work makeup bag I often show them because then I think they get an idea of what you want, if you want another one similar etc…

Foundation.
Eyebrow stuff.
Liquid eyeliner.
Three lipsticks: nude, pinky/raspberry, bright red.
Mascara.
One nude eye shadow.
Highlighter.
Concealer.

Could live without blusher/bronzer. But that's still quite a long list...

BetterWithCheese · 11/05/2014 09:28

moneyone I'm the same, blusher has become one of my essentials recently, I never used to need it. Actually thinking about it I used to just use untinted lip balm but need colour there now too. Getting older sucks.

itsbetterthanabox · 11/05/2014 12:11

My must haves are
Eyebrow pencil
Mascara
Primer
Eye primer
Concealer
Foundation
Powder
Blush
Eye shadow palette
Brown pencil liner
Black liquid liner
Lip Crayon in pinky colour

SuperFlyHigh · 11/05/2014 12:25

Better - you are so right…

I've recently slathered though probably too pale foundation on then needed blusher.

Have discovered a lovely bronzer for my pale skin by Bobbi Brown that's vair vair naice - non tango.

MrsCocoa (and anyone else who has one), can you specify your nude eyeshadow please?

It seems to be a holy grail for me - can never quite find the right one, they either have too much shimmer or are totally ineffective/the wrong colour.

I was blessed with deep-set eyes with purple eyelids (lovely).

MrsCocoa · 11/05/2014 15:49

Shotgun, like Dazzling I use Bobbi Brown bone.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 11/05/2014 16:45

Ok thanks - will seek it out Smile.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 11/05/2014 20:27

I use bobbi brown bone too. It's my go too everyday eyeshadow. It will be staying in whatever my new collection is Smile

turdfairynomore · 11/05/2014 20:36

Benefit hello flawless liquid foundation
Benefit Dallas blusher (& a round topped brush)
Benefit hoola lipgloss
Black eyeliner

dazzlingdeborahrose · 18/05/2014 21:02

Well, I've started. You know you've too much when you can't bloody find it all HmmI did go get some samples from the Chanel counter and the mac counter. Will try the benefit ones too. I've not culled as much as I intended. I think this will be harder than I first thought.

I have a one in, one out policy with my make up. Yesterday I bought Boots Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation (which is, incidentally, rather amazing) and culled my old Clinique foundation that made me look like Edward Cullen (both dug up and sparkly).

All my everyday stuff has to fit in to my muji make up box, and then my going out stuff is in a drawer.

Kinda works. Still got too many lip glosses though.
