Post Natal Hair Loss Help!

Please please just looking for some advice or reassurance, when does this hair loss stop??? I've been losing hair for the past month (DS is four months old) and when I add up what comes out in the shower, when I brush it, touch it or sleep, its a small handful a day. My hair looks so thin and lank! Is there anything I can do to lessen the loss? Or to make it look less thin? It's a wee bit past my shoulders at the moment, would cutting it shorter make it look better? Thanks in advance!

I had this last year and ended up cutting it shorter which helped make it look thicker. I actually found the growing back phase harder - fluffy chicklet hair all around my hairline was not attractive! DD is now 15 months and I've had compliments on my new fringe Confused

Oh god yes, the growing back is horrendous!

Another vote for cutting it a wee but shorter while it's all falling out.

Oh I sympathise, it's the last thing you need after everyything else that comes with a small baby...I ended up cutting mine shorter too. And yes the regrowth is a frizzy pain (but at least it does regrow!!)

Ahhhhhhh I hadn't even thought about the regrowth!! Ha ha the joys!

My hairline came forward half a cm in the grow back, was very weird.

Right now I have a little bald patch above my temple that I noticed in the mirror when shopping, and I can feel the short hair growing back.

Pregnancy is such a glamourous process.

After my first I did worry that I had alopecia as I was losing so much and it seemed to go on for months. I blocked the shower a few times oops. I have masses of hair so didn't really get the left with just a small amount of thin hair but the re growth aaarrrgh!

DD2 is 17 months old and the re growth is just awful. I have very long hair, always pulled back in a lazy mummy ponytail and the underneath at the back looks like Tank Girl has had a change of heart and is growing her shaved bit out. I have to clip it up, looks a bit twattish but it is growing.

My SIL has still got a really wispy (sp) fringe as hers just broke off in chunks. I have no idea why this happens mind you an explanation wouldn't make it any easier.

My DD Is 8 months and my hair loss is so bad I am going to see a specialist on Thursday to get bloods checked for thyroid/vitamin d issues. I have bald patches. Hate it :(
