HoC seasons and greying hair

I am not sure what my HoC season is yet (not had a consultation but planning to have one) but I think I'm either a clear/bright winter or a blue spring - definitely one of the clear seasons. I have darkest brown hair but it is starting to go grey - how will this affect my season? I know it doesn't change what season I'm in altogether, but could I change where I am within the season iykwim? Hope that makes sense!

I have darkest brown hair, pale olive/pale beige skin, dark eyes and freckles.

I have the same colouring and am a HoC sultry winter. My whole hair/make-up/colouring is really getting me down because I dye my hair to cover grey - probably 50% is grey now and it fades so fast. The result is a faded coppery colour which is warm and not cool as my HoC diagnosis recommends.

My make-up has been changed to accommodate the coolness in terms of pinky blush and lips yet the warm tones in my hair make it look all totally off.

In answer to your question though (sorry for my sad ramble) the consultant covers your hair so it isn't relevant. They will recommend suitable hair colours but that isn't so helpful to be told 'cool ash brown' when you're covering grey.

Grey hair 'takes' colour quickly but gives it up just as quickly IME.

Also blue springs/clear springs can wear black, correct? I can wear black which seems to indicate that I am not a blue autumn. Definitely one of the clear categories, I just have weird warm-and-cool skin which makes figuring out which one hard!

I'm not planning to cover my grey which perhaps makes things easier! I currently wear cool and warm makeup and can't see much difference between them - I have to wear bright lipstick, for instance, but it can be a bright warm colour or a bright cool colour. I was just wondering if going grey would make me lean more cool.

Only Winters can wear black in HoC. Autumn's black is a dark brown.

MyrtleDove · 05/05/2014 18:28

What's spring's black? I'm definitely not an autumn. I was using this pinterest board and most of the palettes have black on them - are they CMB?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Spring. Just winter and autumn as one is me and one is my sister.

Not sure if your board is CMB, I see a couple of pins from 'expressing your truth' - their system drove me potty.

Your season won't change, but your best colours within your season can shift as your skin/hair changes over time. But it won't be an instant thing, if you get your colours done now then your best colours won't have changed in, say, 1-3 years, but may well have in 5-10 years, especially if you go completely grey in that time.

Thank you! I am 25 so I have years of greyness to look forward to Hmm

I'm 31, I have a badger stripe Shock

I'm a Blue Spring & there is no black in the HoC Spring swatches. In fact there are no very, very dark colours at all, the navy for us is a bright, quite light navy & the grey is a light dove grey or silver grey. The darkest colour is chocolate brown but, as a Blue Spring, it is a low rated colour not to be worn near the face.
My colouring is nothing like yours. My hair is a very, very light blonde ( not coloured) my skin is very pale but not olive at all & my eyes are bright turquoise.

MyrtleDove · 05/05/2014 19:48

Hmm now I am even more confused! I can wear black but I can also wear bright coral and orange lipstick Hmm

This seems like it fits me well, plus bright red (like the red in the 'share on google +1' button Grin). So deep winter then I guess? I'd put myself as having Anne Hathaway colouring.

My Dh's colouring is similar yours, hair black, light skin with freckles, dark hazel eyes. He looks best in the colours in that link, I'd suspect he is a dark winter, having picked my consultant's brains a bit on my style day.

MyrtleDove · 05/05/2014 20:17

Sorry, this is the palette I meant although they're both quite similar. I basically have to stick to bright/dark colours and white.

Yeah, can't do cream/oyster/off white - pure white and black only for me. I can't do the softness of autumn colours - I need really clear, sharp colours. I don't think I'd know for sure until I'm swatched though, clearly two people can look similar and be in different seasons.
