Fitflps Dué Ballarinas - are they really so great?

I am considering this or maybe in red for the summer?

I needs comfy, smartish shoes for work that don't rub when worn without tights/socks.

Does anybody know what the sizing is like? Generous? Tight?

Oh, shoe shopping, dontcha just love it Smile

I know they have been recommended on here before - it's the size thing that I am dithering about.
I am a 38-39/5-6 and quite wide-footed. I know they do half-sizes as well, but that just confuses me even more Confused
I will have to order a couple of different sizes and return, won't I?

I love Fiflops but find these really uncomfortable. They are much narrower than the normal Fitflop width and my foot feels exceedingly squished.

PacificDogwood · 05/05/2014 10:43

Ah-HA! That's interesting, thanks.
And not good…. Sad

I'm also a big fan of a Fit flop sandals and sneakers and some boots but don't like the Dues. Haven't found any comfortable and think they look a bit clumpy and 'orthopaedic'.

PacificDogwood · 05/05/2014 11:32

Thanks to you too, polyhymnia.

Hm, sounds like that idea isn't a goer then… Poo.
I need smart, comfy shoes that are un-hideous - so hard to find.

Pacific I have these which are great, very comfortable and fit well. I also have a pair of navy canvas Dues but like others I find them a bit narrow and I wore them with pop socks to avoid rubbing. I can wear the Shoe Therapy ones without anything.

WildThong · 05/05/2014 12:33

I can totally recommend these
Very comfy, no rub, wear all day with no problems

polyhymnia · 05/05/2014 13:38

They look pretty and comfy. What make are they - my phone will only show me the pic, no details

PacificDogwood · 05/05/2014 14:47

Oh, thank you for the suggestions, much appreciated Smile

I've heard of shoe therapy before - interesting….

And Gabor, v good make, but they always looks just ever so slightly 'wrong' to me Confused

I may have to brave the actual shoe shops, rather than virtual ones.. Gah, I hate shopping, even shoe shopping.

i have the due ballerinas and I am quite wide footed. Somehow, I managed to build up my wearing time in the Dues Red to now a few hours - but it's bare footed, and my pinky toe gets a bit rubbed :(
I need the fitflops for their arch support, but would like it best if they were to create these styles the same as their classic footbeds.....
I used a hairdryer and big thick socks in an attempt to 'stretch' them in, but don't think I could go all day wearing them without the rubbing.....pain!!
I'm a size 7, and went for a 7 and not the half size bigger
good luck

notapizzaeater · 05/05/2014 15:03

I bought these in red, they are comfy underfoot but ripped my heel to shreds - worse I've had for years and years. I'm just trying again now with socks in the house.

WildThong · 05/05/2014 15:20

poly my link was for Gabor Haven

polyhymnia · 06/05/2014 10:02

Thanks, wild.

polyhymnia · 06/05/2014 10:05

notapizza, if it's the FF Dues you're saying ripped your heels to shreds, I also had that very painful experience with the ( very stiff at back) canvas version of the Dues last summer .

notapizzaeater · 06/05/2014 10:24

Poly - yes it is, I only wore them for ah hour outside (had been wearing them In the house) I had to take them off as my heel was bleeding :-( only shoes I had in the car was my sons crocs 4 sizes too small which I had to wear till I could get home

hollyisalovelyname · 06/05/2014 20:15

My dd Fitflop Due cut her herls to bits. I have a pair but haven't really worn them. Which probably says it all!!!Like you I am a 5 /5.5 / 6. My Dues are size 38. They go up very much at the front sole- really hard to describe - not flat to the ground at the front sole.
Have you tried Sketchers- I have a pair of their little furry lined boots- imimtation Uggs. But with more support. DIVINE

mamijacacalys · 06/05/2014 20:46

I have these Clarks ballerinas and they are like walking on air. They are 30% off at the moment!
They are the second pair of this range I have had and they don't rub or cut - I have worn to work straight from the box with no trouble at all.
My first pair are about 6 years old and still going strong!
HTH Smile

Purpleshoes · 07/05/2014 16:51

Yes, I have the purple patent ones, look lovely but soo uncomfortable , ripped my heels to shreds too. I tried again with the navy canvas ones but not much better unfortunately, expensive mistake. I love the flip flop styles and live in them when it's warm enough.

nancy75 · 07/05/2014 16:56

I had a pair if fitflop trainers, I wore them for about an hour and they cut my feet to ribbons. I have never had such a horrible pair of shoes

ggirl · 07/05/2014 18:18

the fitflop shoes and sandals have two different footbeds, one wide and the other more normal width I think
think they say on the product details

thank god I'm a nurse and can wear the most comfy but slightly fugly shoes would honestly wear them all day every day they're so comfy
these are similar to ff pacific

wifeandmotherandlotsofother · 07/05/2014 18:36

I live in my fitflops, hardly ever wear anything else so bought due in navy patent for when it's raining, hardly ever wear them, heel problems also

PrincessOfChina · 07/05/2014 18:52

They are horrible. So the heel rubbing thing shouldn't really be a huge issue.

PacificDogwood · 07/05/2014 19:16

PrincessOfChine, not a fan, are you? Grin

The heel rubbing seems to be a significant problem.
I am almost sure I remember a thread a while ago about how wonderful they were… Confused Ah, well.

Thanks for all the suggestions - the hunt continues.

ItsRoxie · 07/05/2014 19:25

I have the trainers and they made my heels bleed the first time I wore them. Put them away for about a year then tried again, wearing thick socks and squashing the back down to soften it (wearing them like mules). It worked, they are really comfy now and I wear them most days through the winter.

I'm tempted by the Due ballerinas but lots of reviews mention the heel issue. I think I'll try some on the next time I go into town, they're supposed to come up quite big as well.

theresnowheretohidewithachip · 07/05/2014 21:17

Have tried them on a few times as I really want them. But not deep enough and press on my toes and rub my heels and also slip off them. Such a shame.
