Not sure if this is the right place, if not will move it later.
My face is burning red & my lips are swollen.
And Im very embarrassed.

I need advice on how to stop the awful burning & how to hide it too.

Thank you

Have you burnt the skin? Is it blistering?

Livingwithminecraftaddicts · 05/05/2014 08:41

Ice in a tea towel and try to col it

mrssmith79 · 05/05/2014 08:42

Oh dear OP - aloe vera gel?
I certainly wouldn't consider make-up if the skin is cracked or looking like it may blister.
Maybe a day indoors until things calm down.

uggmum · 05/05/2014 08:47

I did the same recently. My dh said I could never leave the house again as my whole face swelled.

I used a cooling face pack and sat with a cool flannel on my face afterwards for a while. Then plenty of moisturiser.

After about 6 hours I looked ok.

IfIDontKnowAndYouDontKnow · 05/05/2014 09:03

I did it last night, it stung except by the time I removed it, was too late. I put a soothing face mask on and it seemed ok.
Woke up this morning with a rash on my upper lip, my chin & just under it.
I tried cleansing, made it worse! Am currently sitting here with sudocreme on various parts of my face( some got on my check & nose too)
One of the worst things is that I've told DP it was reaction to the facemask, out of embarrassment & panic. Think I may have to come clean!
So frustrating on bank holiday too.

Sudocreme, anti histamine and ibuprofen.
mine was my eyebrows, and went down after a day or so

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/05/2014 10:12

It's an alkaline so you might be a bit spotty for a few days.

LaCerbiatta · 05/05/2014 10:16

I second sudocreme or any other nappy rash cream. Also the 8 hour cream would be very good for that.

Eliza22 · 05/05/2014 11:20

Antihistamines and anti-inflamatory meds. Plenty of fluids.

RubyReins · 05/05/2014 14:47

What Eliza said. The Avene recovery cream is great too. I would be inclined to put nothing on it other than cool water. Hope it goes down soon.

DebbieOfMaddox · 05/05/2014 14:53

Anti-histamine, ibuprofen, put a layer of Germolene on (it has a mildly anaesthetic effect so will take some of the pain away), then cover in Sudocrem.

Neonbabyblue · 05/05/2014 16:21

Anti-histamine, drink lots of water, don't wear makeup for a few days and slap on a think layer of aloe Vera gel.

This is the reason I have my face threaded...chemical burns the day before a facial is a memory I will not forget!

Eliza22 · 05/05/2014 18:04

I was going to mention Avene Cream. My cure-all, ATM!

MsAspreyDiamonds · 05/05/2014 20:00

I did that once..pain was awfulso I put an ice pack until the swellinf went down overnight.

In future, apply a thin layer of vaseline to act as a barrier & then put the veet on top. I haven't had an attack since I started using the petroleum jelly as a barrier

IfIDontKnowAndYouDontKnow · 05/05/2014 20:16

Well I've had sudocreme on for most the day. Still blistering red and I dont know what to do.
I've got a group that I run in the morning, qnd I really need it gone by then. Am embarrassed massively!

Get some antihistamine -- it will put you to sleep and when you wake up it will be much better.

Eliza22 · 06/05/2014 08:16

What's it looking like, this morning?
