If straight, I would recommend Sunji at Graffiti in South Molton Road ( Bond street tube)

GoogleyEyes · 05/05/2014 14:31

Which bit of S London?

Fideline987654321 · 05/05/2014 16:39

Thanks Solde. It is more wavy than straight.

Googley South centralish. Anywhere between Putney and Herne Hill would be local enough. Although I am more than prepared to jump on a train to get to a cutting genius.

Fabian at Haus of Hair in Kennington does a great job on my thick, bushy wavy mop.

HamAndPlaques · 05/05/2014 21:39

Pauline or Shingo at Kuki on Bellenden Road in Peckham.

Fideline987654321 · 05/05/2014 22:01

Thanks both Smile

JFM Hair and Beauty in Wimbledon, I've even been stopped in the street and asked for my hairdresser's name a couple of times now.

Fideline987654321 · 06/05/2014 18:59

Wow! They must be good. Any particular stylist?

Meddia or Kate at Kate and Russell in Kennington is good.

I didn't even know there was a hairdresser in Black Prince Road, Sudo!

GoogleyEyes · 07/05/2014 22:10

Fideline Jane ,who owns the place.

Myla & Davies in Herne Hill.

I have very thick wavy hair too! The bane of my life!

Hairdresses always seem terrified of my hair and play really safe! How do you have yours?

I tend to grow it all winter, then chop it off as soon as it warms up (like anytime soon) it is kind of long bob, slightly layered, collar length (I can't bare it any longer) short bobs like great but are too much work! I tried a Brazilian blow dry but was total waste of money. I tend to tie the front up as I don't like hair in my face. The rare occasions I go out, I pay someone to blow dry it for me!

I am a bit further out than you, but Wimbledon is only a short drive so I might have to try jfm out.

Yes, yes and yes happy. Although I'm not actually mad on bobs (tendency to go bushy on me) I end up having a longish one every couple of years due to frustrated hair tantrum. I leave it too long between cuts as I know I'll invariably hate the result, so subsist in a state of semi-grown out beachy tousled layered cuts. Hair always ends up in messy bun when I'm working anyway (freelancer at home) as I can't think when it's down Confused, but I'm getting too old for the boho look Wink

I found a great stylist when I lived in York, but since I've been back in London (9 bloody years- sob) I've never found anyone close. Feeling a bit more optimistic now I have a list of salons to work through.

Anthony Laban

It's been about 15 years since I went there (grew up in S London, now live in Yorkshire), but he used to do an excellent job on my thick, shoulder length curls.

The other thing about thick hair is "I would love to have thick hair like you" no- you really wouldn't!

If I had Kate middletons time and money for a personal hairdresser, I imagine that I could get mine looking that nice, but till then it is half up/ down or a pony tail and kept short!

I often find the little backstreet salon better than the trendy ones. Also although I am white British, my hair is more like Asian ladies hair, I always got a good cut when I lived in shepherds bush where it is more multi-cultural. Since moving to deepest suburbia, I haven't found a decent hairdresser!

There are number of reputed hair extension salon in south London. They provide varieties of hair extension techniques and hair cut. Some of them are tape in extensions, clip in extension, micro ring extension and braid extension. These extension are applied both for thick as well as thin hair. With hair extension the hair becomes textured and strong.

I agree happyis. My best haircuts were from a lady in Sheffield, who charges me £6 - cheap even 15 years ago - and cut it brilliantly because she had similar hair to me herself.

Yes but think how much time she must spend in the hairdresser's chair. So dull.

My best haircuts were from a lady in Sheffield,

There is a Yorkshire theme developing. What do they know about thick hair that everyone else doesn't? Confused

I get mine thinned and then bobbed - stops it looking triangular.
