Getting married in 4 months and still no dress! Can you help this unsavvy bride find a short white or cream high street dress to get married in?

Hi all

I've been engaged since the beginning of this year but felt too out of shape / dispirited to go dress shopping. I'm now down to a 10/12 and think it's time I kicked myself into action as getting married in 4 months' time!

Unfortunately, I can't afford to go to proper bridal shops, so I'm just looking at the high street. I'm not the savviest of clothes shoppers at the best of times, so I'm really hoping you stylish folk will be able to think of more places to look than I have!

Ideally, I think I'm looking for something shorter - I'd like to be able to move about quite easily (plus I'm not that all, and no good in really high heels, so would be good if I didn't have to have anything taken up!).

So far I've looked in the traditional high street bridalwear type places - Monsoon, Phase Eight, Debenhams and BHS.

Amongst these, I've liked the BHS Short Rose dress and the [[http://www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/phase-eight//Florentine-Wedding-Dress/202419102 Phase Eight Florentine dress].

The problem with the Phase Eight one is that although I'm only a 10/12, I've got lots of lumps and bumps and that dress is actually quite clingy and unforgiving (looks great on the model of course!).

The BHS one is nice, but just wondering if there is anything else a bit more special out there.

I also love the Diane von Furstenberg Zarita dress. The only problem there is it again looks very clingy and I'm quite apple-y / not much waist to speak of. So shifts are good, but body cons are not my friend!

I'd be so grateful of any ideas as I haven't found many options and starting to really worry I won't look that great on my wedding day! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

My friend is getting married (all very last minute) on a budget next month and just got THIS for under £70 yesterday... she was under £100 including her shoes!!! - she looked so pretty I cried [sobbing face].

Have a look on lindy bop at their ivory or cream ophelia dress. Super flattering. I love it.

My mum just got married in this. It is stunning. She changed the belt and bough an underskirt too :)

Hello lovely ladies of the internet! Thanks so much for all your great ideas - I went away for the Bank Holiday and was totally internet-less so I'm really sorry for my delayed reply.

I've excitedly hoovered up your suggestions.

Cocoblu I just had a look at that Mod Cloth site and I love it. I just would never have had the first clue that these type of sites existed. Thank goodness for Mumsnet!

Laquila I really like that Boden one too - deffo not too simple for my needs.

Strawberryblonde thanks for sharing your dress too. So glad to hear I'm not the only one going for short. I was even starting to worry what the future M-i-L might think about me going short but it's just gonna be so much more practical on the day. And as I'm approaching my late 30s, it just feels silly trying to dress like a princess for the day.

VioletStar thanks for your lovely wishes!

Oops didn't see there was another page!

Pinksticks, that link went to the home page. Could you try again, or tell me the name of the dress so I could look it up?

ILoveWooly that is deffo a ringing endorsement....will have to go and try it on along with the other BHS numbers I've had an eye on!

Bunty thanks - just having a gander at Lindy Bop now...

I've just bought this to get married in - it's really really nice, looks much more expensive than it actually is and I reckon I can buy some fab jewellery to bride it up a bit :)

Wow tethersend that's beautiful! Really boho and I think H2B would really like it (if I was brave enough..). I guess it's sold out cos it's a Kate Moss one....

BeauticianNotMagician81 you would not beleive! I haven't bought any wedding mags but I flicked through one at the train station the other week, saw that dress and made a note of the name cos I thought it was so stunning. But then I figured it would only be sold in proper bridal shops so would be really expensive. Would you mind giving a hint how much it cost? And where you bought yours? I looked up the company and it looked like you couldn't buy direct from them.

Sorry no idea why my post came up so many times.

I got mine from a local bridal shop ( leicestershire) that sells new, samples and pre loved. They are selling another dress I chose that I decided is too heavy ( getting married abroad). The romantica cost £350

GoWestcountry · 07/05/2014 12:17

There are some lovely short dresses here www.kittyanddulcie.com/cheap-wedding-dresses.html and they can deliver quite quickly I think.

Or here although I think they may take longer ohmyhoney.bigcartel.com/
