shall I go lighter? Balyage?

I've had my dark hair ombré and really like it but I'm thinking of going a shade or two lighter again. Hairdresser suggested Balyage as I prefer a softer look.

I'll post a pic if you all tell me if I should stay the same or go lighter.

Actually, it looks lovely the way it is.

MikeLitoris · 03/05/2014 08:18

Thank you brag

I'm going to book in for a couple of weeks and see how I feel then.

I would not go lighter - it looks lovely now.

Eliza22 · 03/05/2014 09:46

Leave it! You've lovely, shiny hair. The lighter it goes the less shine you'll have IMO.

MikeLitoris · 03/05/2014 14:10

Thanks Eliza

Your right about the shine. I can already see its much drier it is on the ends

Even with balayage rather than foils you'll end up with darker roots coming through within a few weeks and it won't look intentional the way ombré does. It's a high maintenance option so I'd stick with what you have (which looks beautiful).

RonaldMcDonald · 03/05/2014 16:38

your hair is stunning as is

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/05/2014 16:39

It's really lovely like that .

Cocolepew · 03/05/2014 16:44

Ohh your hair is lovely Envy . I find that once you liighten it, you usually feel like going lighter still, but if I were you I really wouldn't.

MikeLitoris · 03/05/2014 16:44

Thank you all.

I think I've been tempted togo that one step. Further because I've had it tied back all week in work so it hadn't felt 'done'

It's washed and dried now so I'm feeling happier with it.

god, your hair is gorgeous, don't mess with it!

MikeLitoris · 03/05/2014 21:57

Thank you everything

I suppose I should listen as most people say not to mess with it

I've ditched the idea of going lighter, but now I'm debating whether or not I should have a big cut.

I love the colour and the style but it so hard toblook after. I've just been abroad for a week and it was a nightmare. It's longer than it looks in that picture. It's almost bum length.

So opinions please. Do I

-Have about 8-9 inches off and the same colour again?

-Have the cut and stick to my natural colour

-Leave it as is and put up with the knots

Got an appointment in two weeks.

What amazing hair! If it is in that condition and still so long you must be looking after it really well - what products do you use? Am horribly jealous!

I think that to go for a radical cut and colour in one go might be too much of a change if you are thinking of losing 8-9 inches, so how about big haircut in one appointment then rebook for the ombre subsequently once you have lived with your natural colour for a bit? Having a lot off the length will look very different in the first instance... but I suspect you are much less scared conservative than me and it will look great regardless. Smile

MikeLitoris · 24/05/2014 07:45

Thank you brit

I use whatever shampoo and conditioner is on offer tbh. I've tried millions and rarely see any difference. Once washed I use some oil on while soaking wet. Currently using the extraordinary one but sometimes use argan or morroccan. Leave to dry naturally as often as possible. To style it I either use straighteners (lots of heat protection stuff) or heater rollers (my faves)

Atm I'm using some tigi waxy stuff (something blonde?) to get rid of any frizz.

Since having it coloured I've noticed it is so much drier on the ends. It definitely needs a good cut. If I can face going shoulder length or not is another thing.

I would get some cut and keep the colour. How can your hair be that lovely when dried naturally , I look like a fraggle!
Have you got a tangle teezer brush too ?

mycatlikestwiglets · 24/05/2014 10:21

I'd have it cut to boob length (which is what it looks in the pic). It will still be long but less crazy to deal with than bum length.

Eliza22 · 24/05/2014 10:47

"I look like a fraggle" Grin

MyCatLikesTwiglets... My cat loves Marmite on toast! Must try her on Twiglets Smile

OP, just trim the dry ends off. And stay away from "colour". As I said, you've lovely hair!

MikeLitoris · 24/05/2014 10:54

Oh that's after a lot of styling. I look more like an 80's footballer when it's dried and left alone.

You have absolutely stunning hair.Don't go any lighter as your hair will look less shiny and healthy.Just have the ends trimmed regularly and maybe keep it to mid- back length.A couple of face framing lighter highlights might look good.My dd1 has beautiful long hair like yours and I'm always envious of her glossy locks.Especially as mine is fine frizzy highlighted blond.

MikeLitoris · 24/05/2014 15:16

Thank you canny.

There is a few bits around the front that are lighter. They are the colour I expected be all over when it was first done.

I've seen loads of lovely shoulder length cuts lately. It's so tempting to just chop it all off.

Knowing me I'll be in the salon a week later getting extensions Grin
