Another Parlux thread

Sorry, but I'm scared of spending £80/£90 if it's going to sit in the cupboard like my other hair dryer(s).

I have really thick coarse hair, slightly wavy, dry ends.

I usually let it air dry in a ponytail or bun on wash days as otherwise if I blow dry it it looks 'frizzled' and brittle and seems to inflate and go wild. It also takes well over half an hour to even rough blow dry which is off putting in the morning, especially as I'd then need to straighten it after.

But on the other hand I hate looking half ready by going out with wet hair 3 times a week.

Is a Parlux the answer? I need quick and not frizzled, quiet would be helpful too.

Spend approx £50 on the basic compact 320 (350?) one, that's all you need, no fancy ionic things.

Have you tried hair products? Maybe you could half dry your hair, then run some hair oil like Extraordinary Oil through it just at the ends before you go out and that would stop it fluffing and frizzing as it dries. Might be an idea even if you do blowdry it.

I've recently bought a Parlux and am really surprised how much difference it has made to my hair. I was so impressed that I started a thread about it which might be helpful for you as it sounds like we have similar hair types.

My Parlux does have the ceramic ionic technology and my hair is definitely smoother after using it but as I've never tried any other Parlux I don't know how much of the result is done to the ceramic ionic bit.

I was very sceptical and concerned it might not live up to its hype but have to say I wouldn't be without it now. The only thing I would say is that it hasn't cut down majorly on the time it takes to dry my hair, which averages about 10 minutes, even though it is a much more powerful dryer than my old one.

Notsoskinnyminny · 02/05/2014 16:57

I've only got the 3200 compact but its the best thing I ever bought, I've got midlength curly fine frizz and I can dry it in less than 15 minutes and I don't get up looking like a frizzball the next day.

My hairdresser says they last forever so it'll have paid for itself in 2-3 years.

ThisBitchIsResting · 02/05/2014 20:20

I want to get a Parlux - I don't like drying my hair on too high a heat - I know they're powerful and therefore fast, but are they also hot? I want to dry my hair with the speed rather than the heat iyswim. My current one is too hot for me even on the lower heat setting.

I dont have a parlux but was tempted when i read the thread on them. I have a T3 ionic professional hairdryer and have had it literally for years! They dont make my model anymore. It cost me around £90 or so pounds at the time. I have to say, compared to the other dryers i had it was more powerful and it did make my hair slightly smoother but tbh, it wasnt a miracle worker. For that reason, i havent bought one. Will probably consider it if my T3 burns out eventually.

CecyHall · 02/05/2014 22:17

It's so tricky. I'd totally just go for it if I didn't have a cupboard full of 'miracles' that haven't exactly been what I hoped but I really want nice dry hair! I want it to be all swishy and be able to wear it down rather than all pulled back.

I'm so tempted (but I also want a coffee maker which is pulling me away too!)

I have one and I don't get it tbh. I have thick straight hair and if anything it looks frizzier now than with my old dryer which was several decades old, literally. If I'm missing out on any tips I'd love to know.

PacificDogwood · 02/05/2014 22:25

I bought this GHD hair dryer and tbh it's great quality but has made no difference to my hair.
I now appreciate that good hair drying technique is probably more important than the gadget.

And yes, Extraordinary Oil has been great for my frizz. £10 spent 2 years ago and still going strong Grin
