full cup bra advice needed!

I normally wear plunge type bras as i find a high centre point irritating, but for trips to the chiropractor/physio a plunge seems a bit revealing- when I lie on my side there is uber cleavage- so I ordered a full cup style (Fantasie Salsa). However like other full cup styles I've tried, it somehow pushes my breasts out sideways slightly, which makes it uncomfortable on the inner edge. Any full cup styles that are more forward pointing in shape? I am a 30FF, although I measure more like a 28G I find 30FF more comfortable.

I find that I get that 'east/west' thing with Fantasie/Freya bras! Have you tried any Panache? The Tango has fairly good coverage and the Idina is fairly decent although it's labelled a balconette.

hellymelly · 01/05/2014 17:35

I've just bought the Idina! I have the plunge one and the balconette, the balconette is decentish on me that is true, but not as covered as the Fantasie one was. Maybe I should try other panache styles? I've avoided Panache for years as the wires used to sit too high up into my armpits, but the Idina showed in reviews as having lower wires so I bought it. It does sit slightly oddly on me in the centre front, not flat enough, and I needed a G cup as the FF was very small, but I liked the look of the lace.

Have you tried any Cleos? The wires don't come up as high as the wires on most Panache. The Marcie, Bonnie, Lily, Meg are all called balconettes but they do give good coverage. I'm a huge Cleo fan!

SorrelForbes · 01/05/2014 17:57

The Fantasie Serena is nice too but if you're not getting on with that brand...

What about the Panache Rebecca?

hellymelly · 01/05/2014 20:24

I bought the Marcie (Cleo) bra in yellow last week but the yellow is so very bright that it looks horrible on me,(pale skin) and the cup is small so its going back. Also it is a bit see through and racy for the osteopath . I want something that gives good coverage in both ways. Just a classic simple full cup. Don't mind a bit of lace but not a completely transparent cup, as then the briefs are likely to be very see-through indeed. The Salsa looked great in the pics, very central straps and it looked forward facing, but on me it pulls my breasts apart. Shame as it is a nice plum colour, and it was on sale.

The Rebecca is Fantasie too I think?

I want something where my breasts are completely contained by the cup so they don't spill over or out when i am lying down. Something with central straps. I have to move into funny positions and spend the whole time stressing I will fall out of my bra, or that my pants are too transparent (at one point I have to lie on my side curled up slightly, so my not tiny arse is facing the poor bloke.)

Let me have a think!

SorrelForbes · 01/05/2014 23:39

I don't know why I said 'Rebecca'!

Have you looked at the Panache Andorra, Clara, Porcelain?

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/05/2014 08:16

Would you maybe be more comfortable in a proper sports bra? The panache sport is excellent and you'd maybe feel a lot less exposed?

ExcuseTypos · 02/05/2014 08:23

I was going to suggest a sports bra.

I'm a 30FF too and find a good sorts bra holds everything in, they are so comfortable as they have no wires.

anotetofollowso · 02/05/2014 08:31

I second the sports bra idea. But also want to suggest you try Bravissimo's own brand bras, either the regular ones or their sports bra. I found many of the other bras mentioned chafe at the centre point for me. But Bravissimo full cup ones have worked well for me. (I am a 34 H, in case that's useful)

hellymelly · 02/05/2014 10:17

I do have a sports bra somewhere (good intentions not followed through!) although I feel a bit suffocated in it, i guess I could wear it for the appointments. Am hoping for something pretty that I might wear other times too though. Will look at the panache Andorra, I think I have seen that online somewhere and it looked pretty. Have never tried Bravissimo own brand , so that is a good idea too. Most bras seem to be balconettes now, which are pretty but not always the right shape for me anyway due to the high wires. I wore a very transparent Freya bra for years of breast feeding, as the centre front was low ( the Annabelle)so easy to pull aside, and that didn't do the East West thing on me, but I trotted to the osteopath in it one day and he did look slightly startled when I stripped off! I also live in fear he will think I fancy him and am wearing my racy bras for that reason...
I will go google the Andorra and Clara- think the porcelain is a foam cup jobby? They never seem to fit me, but then I am going by the Deco which didn't match my shape at all. I have quite round central breasts with no gap at the front as my ribs are narrow (26" ribs). I miss living in London and being able to try on a gazzillion bras. I have to do it all mail order and it is a pain. Am appreciating the help folks.

I'm wearing Freya Gem at the moment, it claims to be a balconette, but looks more like a full cup to me. Certainly no boobs escaping anywhere.

Chimchar · 02/05/2014 10:31

I'm a 32k and have recently discovered the bravissimo own brand in the Alana style.
It's bloody brill!

Fits well. Very comfy and contains everything without being frumpy.

It looks more balconette in their pics, but is far less jiggly and wobbly than other balconette styles I have worn.

VillaVillekulla · 02/05/2014 12:12

I love the Panache Andorra. It's one of my favourite bras ever. However, if I was going to an osteopath and was worried about feeling exposed I would wear my Panache sports bra. In fact I'm wearing it today (not doing any sport) because it's so bloody comfortable and I'm suffering from sore, pre-menstrual breasts.

If not a sports bra, I'd wear a t-shirt type plain bra rather than anything lacy.

VillaVillekulla · 02/05/2014 12:15

PS. I wouldn't rule out foam t-shirt bras on the basis of the Deco one. That one doesn't work for me either but I have other t-shirt bras which do work. Wonderbra Everyday D-G bra is another one of my favourite bras (but only starts at 30D so no good for you if you're 26"). Lots of people rate the Panache porcelain and the Cleo Juna. Panache also have a moulded version of the Idina which I'm coveting.

hellymelly · 02/05/2014 13:39

I measure 26" but I find the normal way of measuring fits me better than the interventionist way. I try a 28 bra now and again but I find the band tight and feel more comfortable in a 30. So maybe the wonderbra everyday would fit- is it a push up style though? I just want my breasts to stay as they are,but supported, not to be moved about!!

Betty. I think made by elomi. Low wires and good shape.

mamijacacalys · 02/05/2014 16:38

I like Elomi Caitlyn and Elomi smooth bras but don't think they do small back sizes. Figleaves had them on offer recently.

hellymelly · 02/05/2014 17:27

I just checked out the Elomi Betty- Lovely bra, that is the style I find most comfortable, but it starts at a 34 back. So I can't get my size. For those 34 and up though, go and look at it, it is really pretty and delicate.

OP posts:
Sizzlesthedog · 04/05/2014 13:15

I didn't realise Betty had a larger band, it is a lovely bra.

Similar to m&s ceriso range several years ago, same shape and low wires.

trinity0097 · 04/05/2014 18:43

I wouldn't worry what the chiropractor thinks and wear what you usually have and find comfy!

dottyaboutstripes · 04/05/2014 19:35

I have the Rebecca and am fully contained!

hellymelly · 04/05/2014 20:22

Trinity- what I usually have is really see through or lacey as I try to find bras that still look delicate. I really can't bring myself to turn up in a black lace bra and pants.....I wear little shortie briefs for every day but they ride up completely when I lie crouched on my side so I can't wear those either. I hate stripping off as it is, even more so as I am two stone over my pre baby weight. I wish he could treat me in a coat actually.
