Dress for a wedding I can breastfeed in

Hi all

I have a few weddings this summer and need a dress I can easily breastfeed in. One of them is pretty swanky and stipulates knee length dresses only Blush.

Has anyone got any ideas, I'm not keen on the special nursing dresses would rather a standard shop one that's easy to access the boobs!

I'm 5 foot 8 about a 12/14 now and hourglass shape (benefit of breastfeeding!). Budget of around £100 Thanks x

Will you really feed that much that you need a feeding dress? Can you not just pop up to somewhere private and disrobe?

Legologgo · 27/04/2014 13:10

If you look at the banana republic monogram collection they have masses of metallic separates that would work. I love this look. Realise it's too short for the weird knee wedding tho. Hmm

Wrap dresses are best for feeding in. Banana Republic have a few and saw a few in John Lewis too.

What's your budget?

Am assuming knee length?

Sleeves?

Any particular colour?

Legologgo · 27/04/2014 13:12

Wrap dresses so mumsy tho

Lagoonablue · 27/04/2014 13:15

You could dress up with nice accessories and shoes.

tethersend · 27/04/2014 13:16

I love a good wrap dress, but only if cut right- DVF ones for example, although baukjen ones also good.

Lagoonablue · 27/04/2014 13:16

Well you are a mum! Only kidding. I think they are versatile and flatter large boobs. Just my opinion though and easy to slip a breast out to feed. Having to Bowker something off and on to feed would be a pain.

StretchyCat · 27/04/2014 13:17

My ds will be between 4 and 5 months and won't take a bottle so il be feeding pretty regularly. I'd rather not have to go anywhere and disrobe if I can help it.

Probably not sleeves, at least not long ones. Colour wise I tend to go for bold or darker colours rather than pastels.

Might just go to John Lewis and see what they have

Saw this but see you don't want sleeves.

Hang on.

tethersend · 27/04/2014 13:20

zip front

tethersend · 27/04/2014 13:21

would this work?

Lagoonablue · 27/04/2014 13:22

That orange one is nice. In burgundy though.

StretchyCat · 27/04/2014 13:26

Ooh the zip front one is v nice. Love the orange. Would need some good spanx though - or to up the mum tum exercise regime!

What about this: www.oasis-stores.com/butterfly-wrap-dress/dresses/oasis/fcp-product/4470127858? I had the same in a different fabric last year when I was breastfeeding, it worked really well and definitely didn't look mumsy! It has a little popper at the front so you can undo the whole front bit, I wore with a cropped vest underneath which I lifted up when feeding so I didn't have my whole boob exposed.

StretchyCat · 27/04/2014 13:33

Love the butterflies! Not sure about the length though as it's not to the knee. Honestly who sets such an odd dress code!

MyNameIsSuz · 27/04/2014 13:37

tethersend · 27/04/2014 13:42

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2014 13:44

Would a skirt and top be easier?

StretchyCat · 27/04/2014 13:45

Ooh the blue kimono one tethersend! I'm going to buy it anyway even if I find something else for the wedding. Yay!

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 27/04/2014 13:48

Would this work? Is jersey so you might be able to pull it down...

tethersend · 27/04/2014 13:49

Love that skirt, Remus.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2014 13:57

I have quite a lot like that. They are good for tummies.
