Clinique 3-step.... but it must be preceeded by Rinse off Facial Cleanser, oh yes and then followed by Pore reducing Serum.....

.....really? All those products on my face, in order, on a morning, before I achieve anything else? Is this neccessary and do you do it?
Their facial wash was enough for me until I spoke to the lady on the counter and she almost forced me to spend 17 while offering me a 3-step trial pack.....I think she only offered me the trial because I refused to pay 20 for the bigger "trial" pack and then thought I was going to buy the facial wash.....
DO I really need the whole thing? I didn't think I actually had the time.

I did need Brewbut now I need Wine that's at 7am!!!

There's no way on earth I'd have time to do all that on a school or work morning.

Wash my face in the shower & a touch of moisturiser in the morning. Cleanser & moisturiser at night.

When I remember.

PacificDogwood · 26/04/2014 23:53

'Tis crap anyway.

Well, not suited to my dry skin.

Philoslothy · 27/04/2014 00:01

I cleanse with a balm, then use two toners, a primer, eye cream and moisturiser. If wearing makeup I then do a primer first. It really doesn't take very long.

bramblina · 27/04/2014 00:05

Oh god! Why 2 toners? What's a primer? I have to say my skin does seem to like it and it is nice, will likely swap my 3.99 nivea for the Clinique moisturiser, but the rest I'm not convinced. Though I'm approaching 40 and need to invest! No I don't suppose it takes long I just wonder why the lady tells me to wash my face twice?

(Facial cleanser then the 3-step soap)

One is an astringent toner and the other calms.

Floisme · 27/04/2014 00:16

It is complete bollocks and they are liars and charlatans.

Philoslothy · 27/04/2014 00:17

My skin looks better for my routine, so I am happy. I am not spending anything I can't afford.

craftysewer · 27/04/2014 00:31

I've always used Clarins, but for some reason decided to try Clinique and it didn't agree with my skin at all. Brought me out in spots. After a bought of eczema on my face (that I put down to the menopause) I now use Dermol lotion from the doctors and my face has never been softer.

bramblina · 27/04/2014 01:07

Oh Philoslothy my reply was not meant to sound shocked at your reply, I'm so sorry! I was merely surprised to find someone who really does spend time and effort on their skin! I really should too. What is the calming toner you use? I think I need that as others esp Clinique feel quite harsh on my skin. I also need to remember eye cream more. Interesting that you say your skin looks better for it as I really do wonder how much of it is luck and chance that we find the correct product for our skin, whether it is expensive or not, hence why I am giving Clinique a try to see, as the Nivea does not do me any favours.

Three step has been brilliant for my skin. I don't use another cleanser int he morning just the wash tone moisturise with the pore serum. At night I use a sanctuary routine, double cleansing with cleansing oil, then leave on exfoliating cream, skin oil and night cream. My skin is looking good. Yes it take s time and yes it expensive but I see a real difference.

bramblina · 27/04/2014 01:48

Why do you use two different makes, RhondaJean, and not the 3step twice? I really need to make more of an effort with my skin.

I use micellar water then Eucerin cream, if I used Clinique my face would fall offGrin

Philoslothy · 27/04/2014 08:23

I do think that a factor in my skin looking good is that a few times a week I spend a few minutes massaging in my balm cleanser. I also suspect some of it is luck.

Philoslothy · 27/04/2014 08:24

I pick and choose and combine different makes, hopefully picking the products which best suit my skin.

MairzyDoats · 27/04/2014 08:29

Which micellar water is best, I've seen a L'Oréal one and a Roche Posay one, anyone know if there's much difference?

Sunnyfeet · 27/04/2014 08:51

I'm a Clinique fan, but don't do a strict 3-step routine.

Morning: rinse off cleanser (in shower) followed by moisturiser and eye cream

Night: remove make-up with baby lotion (!), user toner, the moisturiser, eye cream and night cream

meditrina · 27/04/2014 08:57

They're selling you the fantasy that a complicated and expensive regime has to be good and superior to all else.

Now if you can afford that, and enjoyit, it will suit you very well.

In terms of what you actually need to do for your skin, it's simply clean it and protect it (moisturiser, sunscreen and/or barrier cream when indicated).

meditrina · 27/04/2014 08:59

Micellar water is the newish name for (fairly dilute) astringent cleanser/toner (eg 10-0-6 that was popular here in the 1979s, but was more concentrated). The differences between brands is minuscule, and so go for the one which smells nicest to you,

Philoslothy · 27/04/2014 09:05

Is bioderma not a micellar water? I use that if I have heavy eye make up on.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/04/2014 09:39

I started off with the L'oreal micellar water but it was ever so slightly harsh for my sensitive skin so I used the Nivea one for sensitive skin. I have discovered after years of HCC that it was irritating my skin and this is the best thing for it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/04/2014 09:40

Micellar water isn't astringent though Confused

meditrina · 27/04/2014 09:43

It's more dilute than the 1970s versions, but it is essentially the same stuff with different marketing.

MairzyDoats · 27/04/2014 09:55

Bioderma! That's the one, I saw it recommended here, is it in Boots?
