Is there such a thing as a sports bra with a delicate strap????

OK, slightly niche question, I accept…. I want to wear a bra with decent support when I exercise (in the hope that my boobs won't be round my ankles any time soon), but would like to be able to wear pretty tops with spaghetti straps etc when hot. Rather than chunky wide-strapped things. BUT - have not been able to find any bras that will work underneath. Have found some yoga-ish ones that look nice, but support is rubbish and typically the straps can't be adjusted. Does this thing exist? Anywhere????

No, for a reason - you need the support when exercising!

Some yoga tops/sports vests have integral support which would work for less high impact stuff or not very well endowed sportswomen?

trixymalixy · 25/04/2014 18:38

Haven't seen any.

I'd love to wear something like this when running, but rather pointless if you have to wear a sports bra under it!

KristinaM · 25/04/2014 18:45

If you still look pretty when you are exercising, you are not doing it right Wink

I'd go for a sports bra in a bright colour even if the straps are wide and then make a feature of the bright strap showing with a vest top over it..

Sweaty Betty have some with narrower straps. Their run bras are good and the colours are lovely so a bit of strap on show just looks like you are layering Grin.

Marking place, I often wear combinations of pretty things and sporty things, e.g. sports leggings for wicking with pretty strappy dresses for going out. Partly because I cycle everywhere, not for "sport" but just to get around.

I've only just discovered sports bras as others really didn't have enough support, but am now having the same problem as you since it's been warm enough to wear summer dresses.

The best in-between ones I've found so far were Sloggi underwired T-shirt bras, if that helps. Some are made with very thin shiny material which wicks well but doesn't give as much support, but some are thicker and work pretty well for me although not as supportive as a sports bra.

I like my sports bras chunky. Makes me feel secure! To be honest my sweaty visage would neutralise the effects of a stylish ensemble anyway!

specialsubject · 25/04/2014 20:52

no, by definition.

I am looking for a non-wired, non-lacy, non-padded bra with wide straps. Only ever seen one which I wore out and can't replace, so hoping this thread might produce another!

May take a look at Sloggi underwired t-shirt ones…. Good thinking. Just that I sometimes take a ballet or barre fitness class (don't laugh) and everyone is in pretty delicate leotards and big sports bras really look pretty dreadful under them. But rather look dreadful than no support. I guess most dancers are flat chested. But not all - so I keep thinking maybe someone makes something half-way acceptable. Many thanks for all suggestions - the search continues (maybe eternally fruitless…..)

I wear my white sloggi sleep bras for yoga...not too wide straps but no support for anything with bounce effect.
If I were to replace them I would buy the M&S crop bra from the sports bra bit in neon or bright colours. I've realised that anything underwired, esp sports bras don't work and actually hurt for days afterwards.
Check out lululemon for poss what you are looking for (spag strap bra)....no idea whether they are worth it though!

I do barre in my sweaty betty run bra. they have the option of hooking the straps together at the back for a racer back, or leaving them unhooked so they go straight down.

swaety Betty also do soft yoga bras which have thin spaghetti straps. they also have tops withnintegral bras and with thin straps. these might be enough if you are doing low impact. I have one of the tops that I sometimes wear for barre.

cardamomginger · 25/04/2014 22:03

sweaty bety run bra has adjustable straps and how and eye back fastening.

catsofa · 26/04/2014 12:09

I suppose it might be worth checking that all the bits of a bra which can take the weight apart from the straps are being used as well as possible, so maybe try a size smaller round the chest with an underwire, and a bigger cup size if necessary.

It's possible that you'd then find a non-sports bra more supportive and wouldn't need the thick straps.
