dress for a wedding for a frumpy, dumpy woman approaching 50 - the ultimate challenge!

Hi all
Would love it if you could help me. Need to attend a wedding in June and have nothing to wear. I'm 5ft2 inches, a size 12-14 with big tits, no waist and hideous thighs and knees. My upper arms are best kept hidden too. I have dark brown hair and light skin with blue eyes, and tend to suit strongish "winter" colours - anything like beige makes me look really sallow. Any suggestions (other than the obvious bin bag) gratefully received. The wedding will be fairly casual but would love something nice for a change. Making me look somewhat less grim could be your challenge of the week..
Thanks

I like that tether (in the wine or raspberry) and would be a very useful dress I could dress up or down, but in some of the photos it looks a bit clingy round her middle.

Baukjen dresses tend to be good quality fabric and hang well, but I've not seen that particular dress IRL...

How about this from Jaeger? Quite spendy, but they sometimes have discount codes www.jaeger.co.uk/Monochrome%20Maze%20Print%20Dress/630246H,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_630246H_color=86500&dwvar_630246H_size=8&start=10&cgid=women-dresses

Quite nice Saurus, but a bit out of my price range, and not sure a sash would be good for me. Thanks anyway.

Therealmarymillington the fabric is quite 'sturdy' but with a lot of stretch! Very forgiving! I'm trying really really hard not to order it in black!

Lifeinthemidlands sorry I missed your questions! No problem at all, according to the bra intervention measurements I'm a FF/G and normally avoid a high neck too but the neckline on that no brainer dress didn't make me look matronly at all!

Not sure if anyone has posted this one Phase eight with sleeves

I am taller than you and bigger busted (g-gg), have wobbily bits and quite large thighs / hate my upper arms with a passion unknown. but this dress is really flattering. Whilst its not solid on the arms it gives enough coverage.

Might be worth a try on.

lifeinthemidlands · 25/04/2014 17:28

Like that one a lot divorce, but maybe a bit glam for a small family wedding? Thanks Jane may well have a look at that then. Thanks everyone for your help - much appreciated.

I like Tethers' Baukjen one. And I don't think anyone would notice your middle if it was clinging to your norks ...

How about Jacques Vert?

Very elegant and cut for curvy women.

RandomFriend · 25/04/2014 18:13

As an alternative to a dress, this matching top and skirt would look and it is in the sale.

Or you could go to Jacques Vert in Debenhams and see what dresses they have in the sale.

lifeinthemidlands · 25/04/2014 20:44

Jacques Vert another good suggestion - some nice dresses but I think the skirt length would be a bit too long for me though. Thanks.
