Wedding lingerie for slightly bigger women?

I'm size 18/20, bra size 38FF, getting married this October and I ended up picking a strapless dress. I didn't want a strapless one but there were so few with sleeves that it was hard to find one that I liked. The dress shop has said that they will not do fittings and alterations without the shoes and undies that you'll be wearing on the day. I have about 3-4 months until my dress is complete so I'm starting the hunt for some nice lingerie now.

Can someone please help to find some nice strapless bridal lingerie for someone like me? I've no idea if I want a bra or a basque so just throw some links at me for anything suitable Easter Grin

If your dress has a built in corset you shouldn't need a bra. My bridal shop sewed in some bra pad type things in place of a bra. Oh and I wore spanx -hubby didn't see those!

I have literally no idea if it has a built in corset Easter Confused the shop will know won't they if I give them a ring?

Same here - no bra required with my dress (and my boobs looked awesome thanks to the corset effect!) Does it lace up at the back or have boning in the bodice? If so then I would think no bra :)

If you can get to London and it's in your budget Rigby and Peller do lovely basques which are really supportive (I was a 36H when I hit married) and the fitters are really good. Definitely recommended.

I think it has boning... It's not a lace up back though, it's a zip fastening.
I can't get to London unfortunately, I'm around 4hrs away and I'm not spending a fortune getting down there just to spend another fortune on underwear Easter Grin thanks anyway though.

I had a basque from bravissimo. 36gg, although I thought I was a 40f!
Fitted beautifully and looked great, pretty rather than the functional lingerie often sold for larger figures.

I'd be wary of relying on just the boning in your dress as you are fairly busty. Most wedding dresses use plastic boning which can look great initially but over the course of the day it starts to bend - you might well find that while you start out with your boobs the way you want them, the boning will start to bend outwards and you'll be falling forward.

Whilst it's not an exciting/beautiful option, for sheer uplift and making the dress look good I would consider the Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless. They do an ivory lace patterned version, but it knocks the spots off any other strapless.

Apart from that, a steel boned corset is amazing!

That's a very good point Statistically RE the boning. Iirc it does have plastic boning (felt it anyway, it sturdy yet flimsy iyswim?). I have a basque with plastic boning and when that bends it tends to dig me very painfully in the ribs. I messaged the shop on Facebook and just had this reply *You shouldn't really need anything special as it will have some built in support, but some girls with bigger boobs do like to wear a strapless bra for extra support. You could wait for it to arrive and then see if you need anything after your first try on.

So I think that Wonderbra is the way forward, thank you for pointing it out, if it works for me I will be forever grateful to you!
