Cleanser for make up brushes?

Following all the recommendations from this thread I now have (and love) the Real Techniques stippling brush, but my usual half arsed way of cleaning brushes (i.e. swirl with some hand soap and water in my cupped hand) just isn't cutting it with this brush.

What do other people use to clean their brushes?

Hopefully TheGruffalo

I use face wipes as always found using anything water based led them not to dry out well.

I just use a mild shampoo and soap, although this might not cut it if your brushes are really gungey and haven't been cleaned in ages.

Blob of shampoo in the bottom of a beaker (those plastic cheapo cistern ones are good), wet brush heads, stick brushes in, leave for a few seconds then take brushes out and wash individually.

I find the dense brushes are most difficult too get properly clean.

I've heard if people using washing up liquids which sounds gross.

Oh, x posts with everyone else!

Btw I mean children's not cistern.

Also, dry flat on a small towel or flannel.

And to, not too. I can spell, honestly - struck by the curse of autocorrect.

Mine were grossly stained even after weekly washing with soap or shampoo - I use EL double wear light so in desperation I did them today in liquid persil.

I poured a little in a glass and swirled the RT brushes in, wiggled them about in my hand, added a bit of water to the glass and swished them about then rinsed manically.

They look and feel amazing - just like new!

Lush's I Love Juicy, or washing up liquid, as foundation brush can be really greasy in how it sets in

Ah right. I spot clean my most heavily used brushes with shampoo 2 or 3 times a week and have since I got them - this seems to suffice. I do need to have a good go at the concealer and foundation brushes to get them really clean though, it's a bugger to get off.

I tried some of the tips on this thread the other day and my brushes are now squeaky clean and look like new.

I used a few drops of my face cleaning oil first to loosen off the liquid foundation then washed with sulphate etc free shampoo and dried them flat. They are perfectly clean now!

Thanks all!
