Help - breastfeeding dress for wedding

CharCam · 19/04/2014 10:45

Have an EBF 4 mo and my brother is getting married next month - I have nothing to wear to the wedding! I haven't lost any babyweight yet (think I've put more on actually...!) so my tummy is a disaster zone and I have flabby arms so sleeves would probably be a good idea! Any thoughts on a flattering but practical dress?

Separates more practical, surely?

Otherwise this from JoJo Maman looks like it could be dressed up with lovely shoes etc to fit the bill?

Next have this dress, which they aren't billing as a nursing dress but it definitely is/could be. The wraparound bit of the bodice overlaps in such a way that you can very easily make a small gap to feed at empire line level.

In the coral, with a smart wrap or cardi and heels, I think it would be great for a wedding. I've got it in the spotty fabric and am wearing it to death. I was surprised by the poor rating in the customer reviews as I'm about to buy it in the two other colours too.

I wouldn't go for a dress. I'd wear a two piece, you can then buy in different sizes depending on your post pregnancy size. A stretchy top will be easier to lift up for breast feeding. Grab yourself a second top in case of accidents and should you need it you can change but if you don't you can return it. Problem solved. There are lots of stretchy fabrics around at the moment and with tights (M&S do wonderful under garments) you can create the illusion of a slimmer you. Looser fabrics make you look bigger so be brave and try on a more fitted outfit, show off your beautiful post pregnancy body. Wear the stretch marks and flabby bits with honour, you've earned them. Have a lovely time.

What about the summer breastfeeding dress or maxi dress from Frugi?
Possibly a bit casual but could be dressed up for the wedding and you'll get summer wear out of them.
Sorry if the link doesn't work-I'm on phone.

also, I'd suggest not wearing a maternity dress. I know from bitter experience that they just enhance post-pregnancy tummies Wink

What about isabellaoliver.com? Their dresses are breast feeding friendly iirc.
And this French company mamanana.com is excellent to deal with. Their customer service is wonderful (well it was a few years ago, can't vouch for now), and their details tab gives really accurate and helpful info.

Where is the wedding at? I attending one in a hotel and when I asked at reception if there was anywhere to feed they gave me a key for a room to use for as long as needed-I was tempted to have a bath and raid the mini fridge ha!

Try Izzy's Mum website - fabulous particularly Mothers en Vogue brand. Great for bf clothes.

Milkbug have some goodish ones, but I did see some much dressier ones somehwere. I'll have a look about and see if I can find some more....
