I'm just wondering really if I need to be using a serum as well as my moisturizer now I'm on the wrong side of 45, and if so, what do you recommend?

Depends how your skin is, what you want from it, how much you want to spend.

I havefound that l'occitane comforting serum to be the best. It's not too expensive and is amazing. Seems to suit all skin types too (pretty much everyone I know uses it!)

Just think what you want OP - extra moisturising - look for hyaluronic acid, anti ageing - retinols, or look at Genifique or the YSL one.

Sensitive skin and redness - La Roche Posay or Avene both have good ones.

There are some for pigmentation issues, or make your skin more luminous - Vichy does one.

My skin is quite sensitive and I have a few lines appearing so probably something anti aging would probably be first choice and I haven't a clue re budget, I just want something that will work!

I wanted to link to the one I use now, but Boots seem to have stopped selling it. Which buggers me up.

Try the French Pharmacy Brands - they are widely sold in Boots.

A moisturising serum will plump up the skin and the wrinkles will appear smoother, or add a retinol product for sensitive skin.

The comforting serum mentioned above is nice too.

But really, it's trial and error.

May I suggest Nuxe serum

Did wonders for me :)
