Shoes for Disneyland Paris

Going to Disneyland Paris for 5 days in May... So hoping for dry weather, but have no idea what shoes to take, want to buy and take one pair to wear everyday so needs to be super comfortable! Was thinking Converse but are they worth £45? Trainers are normally a no go for me so unlikely to be worn once we're home so also don't want to waste money! Any advice hugely appreciated! Smile

The French people who go to Disneyland are not the same ones as those swanning around in Paris looking chic with a blazer, jeans and a scarf.

Just wear what you'd wear to Alton Towers.

Thanks Etcha, I live in my ballet shoes or Uggs in the winter and trainers just don't suit me so was thinking converse might the best option, have been looking at the slightly more dainty ones... Wondered if they blister to begin with though? I've never even tried any on!

I wear converse regularly but new pairs do often rub me and blister so if you get any do wear them in. I also find them uncomfortable after a whole day walking as they give no support. As someone else said though if it rains they will get soggy unless you buy leather ones. When I went to Disney last year I wore merrells (walking type trainers).

i wore flip flops - its just a stroll about tbh

Legologgo · 18/04/2014 17:47

get some coloured trainers - i have some like this for leeezure www.sportsdirect.com/nike-oceania-textile-ladies-trainers-275098?colcode=27509821

wear with jeans

WheresRyder · 18/04/2014 17:50

A new pair will rub. So if you are going to get them get them now and wear them in. If it's dry I just take Birkenstock or fitflop. I have brought some lovely padded ugg flip flops for Orlando in August.

If the weather is mixed then converse type or ballet flats fine. Anything you would normally wear for a long day out on your feet.

The first time I went to Disney Orlando I brought about 5 pairs of new sandals after my feet being ripped to shreds by them I brought a pair of flip flops from the gift shop and wore those for the rest of the holiday.

You walk a lot and are standing most of the day so comfort above style if you can't have both.

Sketchers go walk are amazing. Very comfy. I wore my converse to an all day walking thing and they knackered me feet so much I had to take pain killers. It was a thing at the NEC in birmingham. There was a sketchers stand there so I bought. They are really super comfy.

hollyisalovelyname · 18/04/2014 18:44

I have the Sketchers Go Walk fur lined boots ( so not suitable for Disneyland, Paris in May) they are sooo comfy

mirpuppet · 18/04/2014 19:14

Proper trainers -- or sketchers not Converse.

chelsbells · 18/04/2014 19:51

Thanks everyone!

I think i'll look into Sketchers, had some a very long time ago which were always comfortable - suppose it's comfort over fashion this holiday!

I have skechers go walks in a bright funky colour, soooo comfy. Just like going round in your slippers. Highly recommended

almondcakes · 18/04/2014 20:44

I think it depends how much you are going to walk. I went with older kids and we treat theme parks like a military operation to go on as much as possible, so we did a lot of speed walking between the two parks.

I would say decent walking trainers like karrimor. You can get them in pale blue and similar usually as well as drab colours. They have them in tk maxx often for lower prices. Instead of converse, primark version of them? Six quid each - you could get two pairs and have a dry pair for day two.

The French do not dress up for Disney.

Legologgo · 18/04/2014 22:02

the parks aren't big tbh

Awks · 18/04/2014 22:17

Just come back from WDW and I wore crocs sexi flip flops. The name is vile but they were so comfy and we walked miles. They didnt go soggy on water rides either and didnt fall off on rides where your legs dangle. www.crocs.co.uk/crocs-sexi-flip/11354,en_GB,pd.html

AmberNectarine · 18/04/2014 22:56

I went a couple of weeks ago and just wore my Jimmy Choo high tops which, while not orthopaedicallly sanctioned, were totally fit for purpose. I wouldn't say you do substantially more walking than, say, a day out shopping, so I think most footwear would be fine!

RedRaw · 18/04/2014 23:16

Crocs ballet style shoes, are so comfy and light for holidays. They can squeak a wee bit initially though!

hairypaws · 18/04/2014 23:28

Another vote for sketchers go walk. I had to add an insole however as they came up big on me and the insole in them was very smooth therefore my foot slipped a bit and rubbed. Now with a cushioned insole they are perfect, lightweight, cool, brightly coloured and the comfiest shoes I've ever had.

BeyondTheSea · 19/04/2014 16:04

I work flip-flops and on a rainy day merrell ballet pumps.
