Does HOC style day make shopping easier or harder?

I'll start this by saying I'm rubbish at clothes shopping, I find it hard to find things that I like.

I had my colours done with HOC and found it really helpful, it has made shopping a bit easier as I just look at things which are the right colours.

I am quite tempted by the style day as I tend to buy the same kinds of clothes and am not very adventurous. Half of me thinks it would be good as I would know what things suit me and therefore what to buy, but the other half pictures me paralysed in the shops wondering if clothes fit the style rules.

If you've been on the style day would you say it has made shopping easier or harder?

Easier! Now I can discount 90â?? of what I see. I can think, 'Yes, that looks great on her but would not suit me.' It does not save time, however, because now I want to shop more. Grin.

I'm avoiding the style day because I know what I like and what I don't. I'm frustratingly fussy about things as it is so another list of rules added to my own list of rules would have me rooted to the spot.

I find it easier to shop now I know my colours though, I can bypass racks and racks of items in beige and get straight to the stuff that suits me.

Definitely easier! It's saved me making the same old mistakes and helps keep me on track when tempted by something that looks good on the model/hanger but isn't 'me'.

Definitely easier. I know exactly what I like and what suits. It's also easier for buying online.

Easier. Clothes shopping used to make me cry. Everything I tried on looked awful. Now I know not to even bother to try most stuff on and what I do try on generally looks OK. It's not always perfect by any means, but that's because the cut isn't quite right or it doesn't quite fit.

It sounds like you've all found it helpful!

Do they really give you such good info that you can easily tell if clothes are right or wrong for you? I've been imagining all sorts of rules that I would find hard to translate into reality when looking at a piece of clothing.

Easier when you get your head around it, it can be frustrating at first finding things that are perfect but I personally only follow the rules about 80% and find it works better that way for me.....

You get info on the best necklines for your shape, best trouser shapes, skirt shape and length, jacket types etc. scale of jewellery and bags too

Of course it's only a guideline and you can still inject your own personality into your outfits. For instance I have a friend who is the same style type and season as me but we don't dress anywhere near identically...we both put ourselves into our outfits. So those who criticise the style day as being too prescriptive don't really understand it at all. Honestly, it's spookily good and brilliant to finally know why every time you bought a certain type of top it would hang unworn in the wardrobe. Definitely stops the mistakes. But you can still put your own personality into your choices
