No matter what foundation, primer, moisturiser or application method I use my foundation always looks cakey at the sides of my nose...

....so what the hell am I doing wrong ? Nearly 40, oily tzone. I have dabbled with Double Wear (original and light version), Lancome Teint Idole, Dior Forever, Boots Beautifully Matte, Bourjois Healthy Mix and many others.

Primer wise have tried Smashbox, Milk of Magnesia, Lananca (Smashbox cheapo version) Boots Airbrushed...

Apply sometimes with sponge or Real Techniques buffing brush.

And no matter what I do it always ends up looking cakey or not properly blended at the sides of my nose. Any tips, am I missing something really obvious here ?

definitely not any dry patches?
I'm oily and 43. But i get dry bits down the side of nose. It's the only place I ever moisturise.
I would use less foundation here
Are the pores noticeable? Usually show up here in most people

Do you use powder? I have to use some powder even if it's just around my t zone otherwise my make up completely slides off.

I nearly posted the same thing the other day until I read a recommendation in a magazine for this:

www.boots.com/en/LOreal-Paris-Nude-Magique-BB-Powder_1379491/

She said something like "it never ever cakes" and I've found that to be true so far. I apply it lightly with a powder brush over Bourjois 123 cc cream which I think is fab (I hated the healthy mix stuff but this is very different I think).

The only other thing I think is to wait until your foundation is dry or nearly dry anyway, and to not put too much powder on.

How about laura geller balance and brighten, she also does a primer too, I think it's great

Morning,

The skin at the side of my nose does feel slightly dry (compared to the rest of my face anyway) and I take time to make sure the moisturiser is rubbed in here and also the primer.

I lightly apply some powder down the middle of my face (more the top of my nose rather than the sides). Am wondering if I'd be better trying a mineral foundation as liquid just doesn't seem to do it for me anymore....
