Can you help me find a good biggish every day cross body bag please?

Looking for a nice every day bag, big enough to take the usual stuff, but also with room for some wipes, muslin and toy if out with the kids. And a book and diary etc.

This is the kind of thing I'm after but this would be a major splurge for me.

www.fossil.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=32553&langId=10&catalogId=25005&categoryId=335749&cm_vc=335749&pn=&productId=22555130&imagePath=ZB5258206

Any suggestions?

Requirements are as follows;
must have a zip fastening, not just a button as I always worry stuff will fall out.
Must have a decent cross body strap, ie thick enough that when the bag has a fair bit of stuff in it, it won't dig into your shoulder.
Looking for leather ideally. But would also consider cheaper alternatives.
Probably brown or a dark neutral (I love the blue Fossil one but I think in the long run, brown is more practical) definitely not black.
Don't want lots of the usual gold and silver buckles and tassels etc.
don't want a big logo on the front. I hate "names" being on show
Budget anywhere up to £200 (only because that's the price of the Fossil one. Until now I've only ever spent around £40 on a bag)

Hoping you can find something. Everything I've seen is too handbaggy and blingy. Hate that!! I've always refused to call my bag a "handbag". I want a bag. A handbag to me, is something my Mum had when I was little!

Let the search commence!!

Ps I've realised I'm very fussy so thanks in advance for any responses that I rule out!

Forgot to say - definitely keep an eye on tk maxx - my local ones have Fossil bags in on a regular basis.

Also - I also used to think that I was being sensible having a black or brown or occasionally navy bage as a way for it to go with everything. However the last few years I've found a coloured bag works much better... Best of all is an old red leather John Lewis bag that went with everything, even stuff it shouldn't have done. And then last summer, a close second, my pewter bag mentioned earlier went with everything too. It was a soft not-too-bright-or-shiny pewter, and it was great, did smart, casual, worked with black, brown, navy, red, blue, pink, purple, green, yellow, patterns and plain. Very useful!

I have nothing to add except that when you wear a cross-body bag you will be compelled to sing 'boob separator' in your head to the tune of 'Smooth Operator'by Sade a la Adam and joe. Sorry about that

Pannacotta I haven't got a Liebeskind bag. I have been checking them out on this website for a while. Along with the Royal Republique. They look quite unique. I was after a laptop bag at one point in time so I was checking out their bagpack.

But in terms of leather bags. The Radley leather is indeed nice, and quite thin as well. It is reasonable for what you get, as it is still above high street, but under the designer price range. The only downside I think to a leather bag is that it may not be useable in all weather. Because I have a leather bag already, I am scared that it is not as durable as my faux leather Fiorelli which has lasted me a very long time. That is why I have not got the Radley leather bag. I'm really after a shoulder bag that can fit a small laptop, but I cannot decide. So that is why I found those leather ones in those websites. There are some very nice faux leather bags in the Zalando website. The only durable leather that I know of are LV bags. I am sure they have a layer of coating on it to make it extra durable.

I've got the Radley one in brown, it is a bit small for me and I prefer a more casual, slouchy look (no to lots of metal and names for me). I'm using a blue canvas one from Peacocks last summer at the m

Have you looked on eBay for that bag op? It comes up regularly (but depends if you don't mind used (though often they've been used once or twice!))
I have a similar cargo bag (has 2 front pockets instead of the zip ouer pocket on yours) and it is fab - got it from TkMaxx for £80 and it's so soft, slouchy and roomy. It's black and I'm after a brown one too its so nice (and Im like you; don't normally pay more than £30!!

Completely not what you are looking for but Ive got an Orla Kiely Midi Sling bag and I got it for exactly the same reasons as you.

Its big enough to chuck everything in and I spent months (and I mean literally months) looking for the perfect leather one and I couldn't find one anywhere.

Only thing is it hasn't got a zip but a magnetic snap but its really deep and nothing has fallen out yet.

Worth a look if you haven't considered one.

I second having a look on Zalando, they have hundreds of bags on site.
You can search by colour, price and material. They do free delivery and returns and they give you
£10 off when you sign up for their newsletter and give good cash back on quidco.
They have regular sales too so it can be worth stalking the more expensive bags you like.
Zign are a German brand that make practical bags with a fashionable slant and they are often on offer on Zalando.
Fat Face also sells similar styles to the one in your OP.

I have that Explorer bag and it's great - except that it's really heavy when full! I now have a smaller Kipling bag which I use at weekends, and the Explorer goes to work with me and I keep the kitchen sink et al in it. Really like the Kipling although it's quite small.

zipzap - love that site and the bags - but how "faux" is the "faux leather? Sorry I'm a real snob on these things and it would bug me if its noticeably plastic...
