Returning shoes to Whistles

Saurus72 · 15/04/2014 19:46

I wore a pair of suede stilettos from Whistles for the first time today. I just took them off and looked at the sole and they are TRASHED. The sole is a mess, but worst of all is that the tips are really worn away underneath. I mean, I work in an office, and I walked to and from my car and they look like a climbed a mountain in them. I'm considering trying to return them - I bought them online, so even if I can't find my receipt, there will be a record on my online account. The only thing is I bought them a couple of months ago, so I'm not sure they will believe I've only worn them once. Has anyone else done this - any tips? TIA

Just email them and explain what you've said here and send some photos too. Despite hating whistles clothes at the moment I have found their customer service to be good.

Their online service is v good
Be aware though the stiletto heels are leather and they along with other premium made shoes recommend a sole on the base before wear

Thanks - I've checked the website and it doesn't say anything about getting them re-soled before wearing which I clearly should have done. I'm going to try taking them into a store and seeing what response I get. A credit note would be OK if they don't want to refund cash.

Well, just returned the shoes and they couldn't have been nicer - refunded my money without a quibble. V good customer service.

Good news saurus! A lot of retailers could learn from that.

It's true - at least I know when I buy something from them (like John Lewis too) it is completely risk free. Although really, I should buy less and have less to potentially take back Wink

I do get annoyed with shoes needing to be soled before wear though. Surely that is part of the manufacturing process?

Saurus72 · 19/04/2014 20:10

This is what I think. The shoes (full price) were £125. I kind of expect them to be OK to wear straight out of the box, without having to pay more before I can wear them - very odd.

Yes I find this shoe resoling thing extraordinary. You don't buy a dress and then have to get it hemmed before it can wear it! Glad you got this resolved anyway - will remember that Whistles were good :)
