Makeup Removing Cleanser

Can anyone recommend a cleanser that takes off makeup and also actually cleanses Confused. I realized today that my nightime routine involves WAY too many steps including eye-makeup removal, foundation removal, cleansing, serum, moisturizer etc. It's not only expensive, but naturally all the different products cannot be procured in the same store so it means multiple trips to get this or that. Grrrrr. I've been using eye makeup remover to get off eyeliner and mascara then a micellar water to take off the foundation before cleansing (the cleanser I use is very gentle and nice for no-makeup days but doesn't remove makeup properly, hence the extra steps). Is it too much to ask for a cleanser that can do it all?

I have slightly oily skin so I try to look for products that are labelled as non-comedogenic. Any ideas, beautiful people?

A hot cloth cleanser might work? The Liz Earle one is quite nice, or Eve Lom if you're flush. They both take off makeup (including eye makeup) and let you also have the feeling of having a 'wash' (which I like, as I have oily skin myself).

I use this

It removes everything, even the eyeliner that used to be like a three day tattoo.

I use it more like a hot cloth cleanser, apply with fingers and use damp cloth to remove.

I am lazy so just use the Micellar cleansing water stuff at night which seems to remove all my make up fine (i don't wear mascara though). I also use a hot cloth cleanser once or twice a week and in the mornings - the cheapo Superdrug one which is great. My skin is oily but this combo seems to work well keeping the shine and spots at bay.

I'm intrigued by this hot cloth business. Does that mean a flannel?

The Avene one looks nice...I'm going to the store later so I'm making a list.

The problem I have with the Micellar water is that it's not strong enough to take off eye makeup and I still feel like I need to cleanse properly after using it. If I use my cleanser alone, then when I go to dry my face there is foundation all over the towel, so it's obviously not taking off the makeup.

Thanks for all your replies Smile.

I usually use Darphin cleansing milk which can either be tissued off or removed with damp cotton wool, which I prefer. Then Darphin toner. I also use Garnier Fresh Essentials eye makeup remover which is cheap but effective and doesn't irritate. Whatever else I try doesn't seem to suit my skin as much as that lot.

The Darphin Skinmat serum is brill for pores and shine. Best thing I've tried.

My skin is not that oily but does get itchy and break out. When I last ran out of the Darphin stuff, I tried going a bit cheaper by buying the no7 green foaming cleanser. My skin is now terrible - spotty and irritated, but before I go back to Darphin, inspired by the retro thread I have been out to buy Anne French cleansing milk to see if that will do the job for a lot less. Will still be buying the SkinMat serum though.

estee lauder think its called 'take it all off' in pale blue pump bottle, you won't need anything else. its fantastic Easter Smile

My skin's actually much better since I started double cleansing...

I use Origins Clean Energy to take off my make up - including eye make up - and don't need to use eye make up remover separately. To be honest, my skin's quite clean after that, but I follow with Checks & Balances because it leaves my face feeling so lovely and fresh. You could always just use the same cleanser and wash twice?

I hated micellar water, what a swizz - didn't take anything off!

OscarWinningActress · 16/04/2014 16:41

Thanks all Easter Smile. Haven't made it to the store yet but will keep you posted. Am having a make-up free day today...soooo much easier, even if I do feel like a naked mole rat Easter Smile

Nivea miccellar water.

Bluebell79 · 16/04/2014 19:31

I double cleanse too, sometime first with a miceller water then liz Earle, sometime just liz,Earle twice. I have been using superdrugs vitamin e hot cloth cleanser and have broken out so ordered the liz Earle again, have been using liz Earle for years annoyed that I strayed.

TheJumped · 16/04/2014 22:03

Double cleanse. Use whatever you like really but do it twice.

I use a face wash with water - if feeling flush then Shu Uemura cleansing oils are the shizzle.

goodasitgets · 16/04/2014 22:17

I use baby wipes for eye makeup as everything else stings (sorry c hirons!)
And then cleanse with a hot flannel and balm cleanser. Using coconut oil at the minute

Minshu · 17/04/2014 09:08

I stuggled to find a decent eye-make up remover for ages and now I use coconut oil, which removes all make up including eyeliner and mascara with a bit of gentle massage, and a warm flannel. I sometimes use a toner, but often then straight to serum, eye creme and moisturiser. I still get a few spots around my chin and jaw from time to time, but generally my skin is better since starting this routine.
