Skincare & Make Up for Dry Rosacea Skin

Hi, I am finding it impossible to find facial skincare products and make up to suit my skin. I have rosacea, so my facial skin is quite red and sensitive. My biggest problem, though, is that I can't seem to soothe the dryness of my skin. My skin is very very dry. When I put moisturiser on it seems to help at first, but once I put foundation on I can see dry / flaky patches emerging within minutes.

I would, therefore, need a cleanser and moisturiser that will offer intensive rehydration without irritating the redness/spots, and a foundation that will work for very dry skin. Any recommendations would be great - thanks.

I'm watching your thread with interest as I'm in the same situation.
My best effort currently is Nivea Soft as pre moisturiser followed by Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum buffed on with a brush (seems to give a lighter effect than finger application).
I used to get away with a lick of tinted moisturiser for a natural 'made up' face but since pregnancy with DC2 (who's now 3) my skin is blotchy and spotty and I wear foundation (as described above) everyday. It doesn't give a flawless finish but evens out my skin tone a bit.

Clinique anti-redness range works so well for me. I use the cleanser, moisturiser and protective base during day and moisture surge at night. Foundation I use perfectly real because I like the texture then a yellow powder to touch up.

The oil cleansing method has been the best thing I've ever tried for my rosacea. If you google it there's loads of info.

I use Almond oil, it's only a couple of pounds from the chemist. You can also use olive oil, grapeseed oil or sunflower seed oil. The official method is then to add a small amount of castor oil which draws out impurities but I find the castor oil irritates my skin so I just use a base oil and it seems to work fine.

Basically, warm some of the oil in clean hands and then massage gently into your skin for 5-10 mins. The longer you massage the better although don't be too vigorous as it will irritate the redness. The oil sinks in and cleans the skin, whilst moisturising the parts that need it.

As it's just a natural oil there is little to irritate. Remove all traces of oil with a clean face cloth soaked in hot water. You may then not need a moisturiser as well as your skin will be nicely hydrated but if it's very dry you can use a small amount as well.

My skin has improved enormously since doing this, the redness has improved and more importantly I don't get that hot stinging feeling any more.

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate the advice. I too found that my skin seemed to get worse during and after pregnancy. The foundation that I have always worn (Lancome Photogenic Lumessence) seems to dry out so much on my skin now, and the Simple cleanser and moisturiser aren't really doing anything to help the dryness. So I will give some of your suggestions a go, and hopefully I'll find something that will work better for me. Thanks!

I have similar sounding skin to you. I think mine was first triggered in pregnancy and has remained.

What's working well for me at the moment is a balm cleanser followed by serum and then Neal's Yard Wild Rose Balm. It sounds like a lot but sinks in and I apply makeup with no issue. Same routine day and night.

I've also recently started with an acid toner and think it's good but early days.
