Posted here because it is really anesthetic reasons.....
and I wasn't getting any replies when I posted on excersise
I look pregnant. I know this is the most dangerous place to carry weight, so how can I help this. I have a pretty crap diet atm but I am willing to change if someone can tell me what I should be eating. And excerise, what should I be doing? If anyone could give me any tips it would be much appreciated

Running is quite good. You need to build up slowly though. I did this last year for six months and lost a stone and a half. I'm like you, it's mostly on my tummy.

Then I did my knee in and stopped and about a stone of the weight has gone back on. Whatever you decide to do, look realistically at having to do it for as long as you are physically able. It's like dieting, quick fixes don't work. It has to be something that you are happy to have to do forever.

SolomanDaisy · 12/04/2014 16:34

Jillian Michaels. Either 30 day shred or ripped in 30. They've made a massive difference to my stomach.

squoosh · 12/04/2014 16:37

Belly fat is a sign of insulin resistance. A sustainable low carb diet is the most effective thing for blitzing it.

balenciaga · 12/04/2014 16:41

Watching as just had dc3 and although I'm slim ish and have lost pretty much all the excess baby weight, I'm dreading what my tummy is going to be like once it's back to "normal" got a feeling will take a lot of hard work

I'm interested in starting running, have heard it's good for the belly area

whitewitchofnarnia · 12/04/2014 17:00

Right , I might start 30day shred , what does a low carb diet entail, how mant grams a day roughly?

Marking place for tips. I need to do something about this too. Thinking about shredding. Starting monday.

balenciaga · 12/04/2014 17:08

I did Shredding a couple years ago. was good and strangely enjoyable, but I found it disheartening as although I could tell I was toning up but did not lose weight, yes I know it's prob cos of gaining muscle mass but it still put me off Grin

And it's bloody hard on your knees and ankles

whitewitchofnarnia · 12/04/2014 17:12

Would you reccomend the shred or toned in 30

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 12/04/2014 17:30

Is it hard on your knees and ankles? Bugger. I've got the DVD somewhere. Not looked at it yet, obviously.

I quite like dancing. Could put on a dancey music channel and have a boogie round the living room.

SolomanDaisy · 12/04/2014 19:48

When I first started I adapted it to make it less hard on the knees. Ripped in 30 is gentler on the joints I think, but is a tougher work out.

Jemster · 12/04/2014 20:00

I need to do some exercise & start watching what I eat. I can't blame my tummy on having a baby anymore, she is 2! I find I comfort eat alot and am crap at planning my meals so more likely to eat badly. Squoosh could you explain more please about the sustainable low carb diet? Would this work for the whole family?

whitewitchofnarnia · 12/04/2014 20:10

Jemster- you can still blame your tummy on having a baby at 2 , mine are 10 and 14 and I am still using that excuse

OP posts:
Pixiepie · 12/04/2014 21:40

Well you can use it as an excuse!! I have had 6 children in total and my belly has no muscle left. I used nothing more fancy than apps on my tablet or phone. I watched what i ate and then exercised for about 10 mins daily. Use a combination of stretches and most importantly cardiovascular exercise. I saw a difference to my tummy. Its true what someone said though, i know i just wont keep this regime up and now my tummy is gone back to its blobby self!! You need to fit what every you do into your life and do it for life. Depressing and totally puts me off..but true...

MotherBluestocking · 12/04/2014 21:47

Pilates is great for creating core muscles where none existed before.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/04/2014 22:56

I've recently started the Mutu system. Am currently on week 4, although life has got in the way (and I sometimes cba) so it's taken about 6 weeks to get to this stage.

I think it's okay, although no considerable difference yet, apart from feeling stronger and fitter which is good.

30DS is good, but lots of old-style crunches which can be bad for your back (and can actually increase the bulge if your muscles aren't strong enough). Mutu seems more gentle on the actual ab exercises, but lots of squats/lunges which seem to be the new crunches as far as abs and general toning are concerned.

With Jillian, I found it saved my knees if I really exaggerated the 'stick your butt out' posture; it's not something we're used to doing, but not tucking your bum under, letting your lower back have its natural curve really makes a difference.

I was looking at reviews for Pilates for dummies on Amazon the other day; thought it looked to be worth a try?

GiveItALashJack · 12/04/2014 23:03

Watching with interest.

I am exactly the same OP. I am starting low carbing this week. My own variation of the bootcamp. Just going to cut the crap, drink more water and get more active and see where it leads.

I have joint issues so cant run or walk for long and am too poor for the gym so am going to use my house as a gym! Going to uses stairs kitchen chair and you tube videos so hopefully thinks will improve!

HellonHeels · 13/04/2014 11:04

yoga or pilates will build core strength in a safe way. Doing a plank daily (forearms on floor) and trying to increase the time you hold it will also help tone up your middle.

Cycling is good cv exercise, easier on joints than running and will flatten your tummy as you use the abs to maintain balance when cycling.

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 13/04/2014 11:11

Hellonheals you answered my question before I even asked it Grin

balenciaga · 13/04/2014 11:38

Pilates is great it whipped my baby belly off me within a few sessions after dc1

But it's soooooooo boring honestly I can't tell you how dull it is

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/04/2014 12:01

I think the Shred is great - had no joint issues (although never made it to Level 3). Level 1 gets your general fitness up, plus is v good for arms, but Level 2 really makes your tummy shrink! I could see visible toning of stomach/bum/arms by about day 5 on Level 1, but Level 2 does really impressive things for your abs, and again, could see that by the third day of Level 2.

Have also done low-carb and lost 2 stone doing it. Will go back to it when this baby is born.
