Best place to buy bikini for post-baby body?

I'll be going somewhere hot for a few weeks in August, pre-baby I'd have just worn the bottoms to any old bikini but now I'm feeling a bit more self conscious! Hope to lose a bit more weight (DD 7 months now) before then, but boobs have shrunk after BF and belly's still a bit saggy despite lots of exercise. Plus I'm still about a stone heavier than I'd like to be though I'm 5'8" so it's not drastic, I'm a 12-14. Where sells good bikinis that are well structured and flattering? I'm in London...

I always like selfridges bikini department, but it does depend on budget. Nowt comes cheap there.

The words bikini and past baby body dont belong in the same sentence. Would it not be less stress all round to go for a one piece this year?

MamaPingu · 12/04/2014 09:16

A tankini might be a good option if you're not fond of the one piece, it'll give you good support (next ones have been good for me in the past) and cover your tummy if it's still a little wobbly Smile

I have a foolproof method with bikinis now, which is buy a proper structured (and pricey) top half from Bravissimo and mix and match with a few pairs of BHS's fabulous value shorts. Comfy, flattering and come in lots of colours and prints. This is the style.

Lovely burnishedsilver Hmm

A one piece is unpleasant anywhere very hot. I would suggest only buying the one bikini but spending a bit more and making it a good, supportive, underwired one. Rigby and Peller or bravissimo. If you are self conscious about your tummy go for a higher waist, 50s style, but really, the beach (at least here in Spain) is full of ladies of all shapes and sizes. Yesterday I was sunbathing next to an octogenarian in nothing but a neon thong.

WhizzPopBang · 12/04/2014 20:08

Cool, I'll take a look at rigby & peller, madbuslady aren't Bravissimo for people with big boobs? Big mine ain't! But I think more expensive & well made is what I'll need - Selfridges sounds like a good idea too...

Burnished - things aren't quite that bad! I do have a nice one piece, but honestly yes too hot, and when the nicer bits of me are all brown, the bits I like less will be saggy & white!

No, not particularly, take a look at the bra intervention threads. I'm an 30F/FF but not in danger of overbalancing at all. See the self-measuring advice written by an MNer here.

Figleaves for separates??

WhizzPopBang · 12/04/2014 21:32

I'll get measuring before I buy then - good article! I'm currently only B-C cup but worth double checking... I'll add figleaves to my search list too, thanks

Definitely get a bra size bikini top that fits you well rather than a size 10 or whatever top. I thought my bikini days were over after having 2 DC in my forties, but the 30 day shred and a brilliant freya bikini top made me look good with a flat stomach.
