Can't find a smart summer jacket with a hood! :(

I spent most of yesterday afternoon (rare child-free day) on the high street looking for a lightweight summer jacket with a hood for under 50 and drew a total blank! I walk with DD to nursery every day so a hood is essential and it needs to be relatively smart so I can go to work in it.

Rack upon rack of blazers, trench coats, thin macs and festival-style parkas, none of which are suitable. Winter coats are just too thick.

I found this which is kind of what I'm looking for (although I don't like the toggles) but its a bit out of budget. Nothing else even came close.

Feel like I'm looking for the holy grail of coats, especially on my budget. Has anyone seen anything that might solve my problem? Sad

New look have a lightweight parka in navy for 17.99 which is lovely and looks quite smart ish on as the fabric has a bit of a satin look to it - obviously for the price it is polyester but still very nice. I love mine.

I'm on the phone so can't link but I'm sure if you have a browse on new look for a parka at that price you'll find it :)

just come home from Dobbies garden centre- they had some hooded jackets by Joules and Regatta, maybe check out there web sites?

I know these are over budget, but I'm lusting after a coat from protected species. Roll on payday!!

I love that Land's End one but way out of my price range sadly.

So many coats like this just look too 'festival' for me and camping type coats arent really smart enough.

On price you cant argue with the Asda one though! The Yumi one is quite stylish.

Its annoying as I push the buggy so an umbrella is impossible and it still rains in the summer! Surely other people have use of a hood?

I have a lovely lightweight breathable one from Barbour and a spotty paca mac style £10 asda one fir summer. I dud have a Land's End one called sun shower parka was £40 with fabulous huge hood which I sent back as sizing so large. Was lovely though and lots of colours??

A little over your budget (it's £65) but has a concealed hood and is much better than anoraks which are never 'smart'
