I have dark circles around and under my eyes and am looking for a good product to cover / minimise them.

Budget is rather limited.

Any recommendations?

I use Bobby Brown, cones in a wee pot, cream on one side, and a light, loose powder on the other. I can't remember how much it cost, but I bought it ages ago. It's good.
But I don't have very dark circles.
I saw a demo. where it was said to put the cream under the dark area. Just pat it under the dark, and it takes away the dark. That is what I do.

Clinique under eye product. I use as concealer too. Lasts over a year for £16.

Thanks for the tips!

I've tried a few. Best "by a country mile" is Clarins Eye Brightening Concealer. I got it from Escentual (on line and cheaper). You need the weeniest bit and it's in tube form, so will last forever.

zeddybrek · 12/04/2014 18:25

MAC studio finish concealer, costs about £13 but lasts forever. The make up sales assistants will always colour match you without the hard sell if you want to try it first. I have terrible dark circles and it's the only thing that doesn't make me look like I've been punched in both eyes.

I'll have to go to town and check out a few of these recommendations in a department store. Really useful info, thanks.

I don't know if its ageing or just lack of sleep but I'm getting self conscious about this now.

I use Benefit Erase paste. I had a professional make up artist do me once and he used Bobbi Brown which made them vanish completely but I've never got the same results myself.

squoosh · 12/04/2014 23:06

I feel like I'm always recommending it but Collection's Lasting Perfection Concealer is amazing. And only four quid.

Maybelline's clicky pen concealer is good and inexpensive.

JuanPotatoTwo · 12/04/2014 23:31

I've read on-line that gelatine can help. Have a read here:

Keep meaning to try it but haven't got round to it yet.

smilerc · 13/04/2014 07:29

You want the bobbi brown corrector that comes in a single pot not the concealer that comes with the powder. The corrector is peach toned which neutralises the purple/blue tones under the eyes. Then you put a concealer over the top. The corrector is amazing! It is worth looking in Boots or Superdrug if you on a right budget as a lot of the brands have now started doing their own correctors. Just make sure the corrector is peachy toned. Apparently soap & glory do a good one.

Hi there,
I have large circle under my eyes, just like my dear old dad: big eyes/eye sockets.
I have been using Boots Instant Radiance concealer for years, it is the only product I have tried, which lasts all day and doesn't give me white, panda eyes.
My skin colouring is pale, but warm, kind of olive and I use the II shade. There is a cooler, more pink shade also available.
When it first goes on, I find it a bit too wet, which means it spreads further and doesn't give such good coverage.
The trick is to put it on then leave it for a few minutes while you do your other make up. It thickens up, evaporates and just needs to be patted to blend.
I think it costs around £13 and a tube lasts for a couple of months if only used for under eyes.
Hope you find something, lots to try on here! Smile

Juanpotato I am planning to find some gelatine for the under eye challenge. Will report back if it works. Thanks for the tip!

LilyRose88 · 13/04/2014 11:23

I find that I need to use two different concealers to hide my industrial strength dark circles. I use a peach colour first and then when that has dried a bit I add another layer of a more yellow-toned concealer. My current favourites are from MAC (Studio Finish concealer) and Benefit Boi-ing. I sometimes add a more reflective concealer on top of the first two, as it seems to soften the effect. The Collection one recommended by squoosh works well on me.

For me, texture is important as well as the covering ability, as I have quite a few lines and the thicker concealers just seem to settle in my lines and make me look really awful. I think I have about eight different types of concealer in my make-up bag which have not passed the test!

JuanPotatoTwo · 13/04/2014 21:25

You're welcome rowing. I too will try it. One day :)

PaoloCougar · 13/04/2014 21:37

Clinique Airbrush Concealer is fab! I'm very pale (almost pale blue actually Smile ) and I find the 01 fair shade is great for concealing my dark circles.
Clinique also have a specific product, here, though I don't think this is to conceal, more to prevent. Which would be good too!

SomethingProfound · 13/04/2014 21:39

I'm on a very limited budget as well and like you OP I get really dark circles around my eyes. I use Revlon stick concealer it cost about £3.99. I find if you apply it with a make up brush it works really well.

ihatethecold · 13/04/2014 21:44

I use the cheapest lasting perfection one recommended by sqoosh.
The packaging is crap though.
It always leaks.
I would buy it again.

castlesintheair · 13/04/2014 21:50

I use the Benefit one that looks like a lipstick, sorry can't think of name. It's very good especially as it's quite oily so doesn't settle into my lines like all the others I've tried.

LimeLelloLizard · 13/04/2014 23:23

Fab recommendations - thanks everyone. I like the idea of only paying four quid - but only if it works of course. I might have to print this thread and surreptitiously carry it in my bag when I go shopping as I'll never remember all of these!

Rowing, let us know if the gelatine works!

La touche magique by loreal is good. Normally about 8 quid in boots but can be found on amazon for half price.
