reccomendations for good skin care collection

So need a change. My skin care is getting a bit higgledy piggeldy.
Anyone recommenced a good brand. I want a serum, day moisturiser with SPF and night cream.
I normally go mid level - think dermalogica, clarins, origins. yet to find a brand that has everything I want in one collection.

Liz earle is really good.

Bodicea · 07/04/2014 20:15

I like liz Earle but their moisturisers don't have SPF

Murad (about the same price as Dermalogica)
Elemis (not sure about SPF in moisturisers though)

Superfacialist by Una Brennan is great. Not too expensive either. You can get it in boots.

peasandlove · 07/04/2014 23:01

Lacura by aldi Wink

I second the Una Brennan rec. The orange cleansing oil is absolutely gorgeous and lasts forever. Xx

God! Sorry about the kisses - it's the first time I've posted from my phone and I slipped into text mode

I don't think it's necessarily a good thing to have every product from the same brand. Some brands are a bit stronger on some products than others and a variety of products culled from different brands might be what your skin needs. I'm using a mix of Clarins, La Roche-Posay, Estee lauder, Alpha H and Ren at the moment as they seem to be the best products for my skin. I really rate Estee Lauder's ANR as a night-time serum, for example, but their cleansers and moisturisers do nothing for me.

I second mixing the brands up a bit. I use La Roche Posay cleanser and moisturisers with Skin ceuticals serums and retinol and ROC Wrinkle Filler. My exfoliator is from Aesop.

Bodicea · 08/04/2014 09:28

I do mix up most if time but sometimes wonder if all the ingredients might fight against each other or something

Dunno. I used to think that as well. But my dermatologist told me to use the stuff I'm using, so I guess it's not always true (assuming that it might be some of the time!).

Bodicea · 08/04/2014 15:34

I suppose it is ok to mix brands if you know what you are doing. I just think if you use a collection all at once it saves the brain work and you know they will complement each other. Out of curiosity you went to a dermatologist ? What for?

Ole Henriksen's skin care products are fantastic. My particular favourites are the collagen booster, the night gel, and the African red tea foaming cleanser. You can buy them here in Harvey Nichols and John Lewis.

I know not everyone raves about her, but Caroline Hirons' blog is an interesting read.
She recommends lots of different brands across varying price points (from body shop up!) and definitely advocates mixing things up

cardamomginger · 08/04/2014 18:50

I originally went to her to get Roaccutane for spots and a few years after that started seeing her for Botox. I asked what products she would recommend for my face (dehydrated, sensitive, keen to avoid lines) and she told me what to use. She consistently recommends la Roche Posay (and it gets rave reviews here too) and skin ceuticals for their serums.

Prior to this, I was using Elemis products and found them to be pretty consistently good - my skin seemed to prefer some products over others, but I guess even within the same brand it an be a bit of trial and error. Elemis used to do amazing in store offers which, if you were clever in what you chose as your free gifts, meant that it offset the higher price point. Not so much now. Elemis papaya enzyme mask is a brilliant exfoliator. I also like their pro-collagen marine cream (but flipping pricey - see comment about in store offers above!).

Cardamom - you can get good deals on Elemis on Beauty Flash...I got a cleanser, toner and mini flash balm for £28!

(I don't work for them!)

Ah!! Thank you Grin.
