Hi

I'm an early thirties single mum of two, youngest is 9 months old. I've never really had any style with clothes and never known what suits me.
I'm 5'8'' ish and overweight at the minute, huge tummy, probably not bad legs - think I'm an apple shape. I'm currently living in leggings and long tops/cardis but I'm feeling very frumpy and unconfident.
Wondered if any of you knowledgeable stylish people could point me in the right direction, maybe a few basic items that would suit me or some ideas on how to look better. I'm not very adventurous but willing to consider anything at this point.
Thanks in advance.

Team a nice denim knee length skirt over your leggings with a white t shirt plus cardigan and you will look instantly smart casual.

Book a 1 hr free personal shopper session at John Lewis or Debenhams. They will introduce you to colour & styles that you would never have considered.

The 30 Day Shred is brilliant as a quick fix for the post baby wobbly bits.

I pull out all my clothes onto my bed & try to put outfits together with what I have got. I then see what's missing & buy things that will fit in what I have already got.

Good hair cut

Good underwear

Thanks for that, I had considered a personal shopper actually so will have to find a babysitter.
Exercise at home is ideal, can't get out running or to classes so will try the shred definitely.
I'm looking forward to getting some new bras but am still breastfeeding at the minute so will have to put that on hold.
Thanks for the help.

I'd say distract the eye from your tummy with a short skirt (or with cropped leggings under if chilly). Flash the legs and ankles this summer - if you need more confidence in them, try fake tan the first time you let them out.
Short dresses will be good to lengthen your torso - open cardigans/ jackets to keep that vertical line of colour visible. Maybe cropped cardis to mark the waistline.
