Am I missing something here?

Presumably there are hundreds of ladies wearing really nice classy outfits but the Daily Heil just chooses not to photograph them?
Or is Aintree the land of undusted mirrors?

Oh yes I know bad wording, but I can't believe the amount of rubbish. Which makes it definitely not like the polo in Myalias pic.

too right : do people in Liverpool not know how to put stuff in a bin

trashy I believe is the right word

As someone from Liverpool who has been to the National several times I am sick of the sneery, snobby approach taken by the Daily Mail and some others. Last year the Fail got a lot of flak for its overt snobbery so it is noticeable this year that they have made their comments appear nice whilst the page still reeks of disapproval of northerners, particularly scousers, daring to have fun

Scousers are renowned for their bling and OTT approach to life and fun.

Incidentally I have a daughter in her 20s who is very beautiful (even if I am a tad biased!) She tells me that when she goes out in Blackpool, Preston or Manchester, she and friends might go into the Ladies and other girls are often quite stand-offish or even a bit hostile whereas in Liverpool the girls will chat, tell each other they look great, love the dress, etc. I think it sums up the different feel in that city

The atmosphere at Aintree is fabulous and it is fun unlike any other races we have ever been to. It is a great day out for people who set out to have a fabulous time and don't care what others think.

My personal opinion is that the Daily fail should just fuck off Angry

By coincidence I'm just watching Weekend Brunch that was recorded this morning. Simon Rimmer is just saying how it is a shame that the fun and finery is so misrepresented by the papers

piscivorous
Are there any papers that give a more realistic impression?
The Liverpool Echo pictures were more varied and interesting, but is there a "fair" report?

I don't know Talkin. All I know is that when you are there most of the ladies look lovely, the frights are few and far between yet the papers always make it look like they are the norm. The Echo looks far more realistic than the Fail.

It is honestly a fabulous day out, great atmosphere, real exuberance and general high spirits

Well said piscivorous! I agree with you completely. Liverpool is a wonderful place to live, shop, eat and party.

I love to see people having fun with fashion . I hate seeing the Daily Mail sneering at private individuals in this way.

Whenever we go to Aintree I make an extra effort to dress flamboyantly, safe in the knowledge that I will be giving full middle aged Daily Male readers a little thrill.

hollyisalovelyname · 06/04/2014 10:33

I just thought most of the women pictured were inappropriately dressed.
Trashy. Not classy.
But I like looking at the pictures of well dressed women at Ascot in Hello or Tatler.
Different strokes for different folks.
