Have booked an appointment for next Monday. I'm so nervous. Is it a good idea? Feeling old and need a lift.....metaphorically and literally. Thing is I don't want anybody to know. To be honest I'm embarrasssed about it.
What are your experiences? Bruising, swelling? Would I be able to disguise it? Where was the filler injected? Any info, please.

I've had them done in both my nose to mouth lines and under my eyes. I would say it's really important to find a good doctor, I would only ever go to a doctor when it's to do with my face, not a nurse or hairdresser, you her too many horror stories. I found Dr Joney De Souza in Marylebone, London and would only go back there now. He did a really good job, no bruising and a little swelling which went down really quickly. Nowadays fillers are so much safer and far better than they used to be, plus they can be corrected easily if needed. I'm glad I had mine done, I'll be going back for me when this wears off, usually 8-12 months.

I've had both my tear troughs and nose to mouth lines done and I'd never look back. I was so fed up with that tired look under my eyes, whatever makeup I used could never seem to hide it. I went to see Dr Joney De Souza in Marylebone, also had my nose to mouth lines done at the same time. I chose Redensity II for my Tear Troughs and Restylane for my nose to mouth lines. Lol, you can see I did my homework beforehand as I only wanted the best fillers. Amazed at the results, definitely going back when this wears off in about 8/12 months. People keep saying how well I look ;))

Dr Tracy Mountford in Wimpole St is the best- voted the best by lots of people including the Tatler best dr guide.
You will pay about £650 for tear troughs and probably about the same for everything else - it depends on how much filler you need as it is priced by the ml.

I have used her for MMR vaccinations Golfer girl and she's lovely but I don't know about fillers. Her clinics in Woodlands?

I would go to Dr Darren McKeown on Bath Street. He's really good. I know him personally and although I haven't had fillers (yet) he knows his stuff. Go for a consultation and see what you think.

Clarabumps · 04/04/2015 23:42

Ah I see you've booked with Carole. There were a few people in the waiting room when I went for MMR injections for DD and they looked "fresh" in a good way but i think they were there for botox not fillers.

I'm a nurse and chair of the British association of cosmetic nurses.
I would say that whichever medical practitioner you choose to go to you need to be certain that they do this pretty much full time and not on the odd Saturday per month or once a week.
Having the ability to prescribe for anything adverse that might happen and for Botox (botulinum toxin )is essential.
Managing complications essential
I lead the editing team of doctors dentists nurses laser for the European cosmetic standard and the UK lacks regulation in this area. It's a minefield and I feel for all those who have so many questions and anxieties about where to go and what's best for them.
Look at and ask about their experience , ask for recommendations , ask for photos of their work, ask what they do for you if something goes wrong ( can and will they look after you personally ).
Don't go to a Botox or filler party ( unprofessional and frowned on by the medical regulators) .
Read the consent form properly for what your having. Don't drink alcohol as it can make the consent invalid.
Ask about their insurance ( I know that's difficult )
Check to see if the doctor or nurse on their register (GMC,NMC) and no conditions of practice against them.
Look at the setting of their clinic- is it professional and clinical.
Scotland they must be registered with HIS.
Tatler is a great magazine if you happen to be named in it ( I was in their top 10 last year) , however it is also full of paid for people.
I'm sure you will have great outcomes if you ask the right questions helping you decide on the practitioner.
Good luck

Ghostlife I can recommend the Visage Clinic in Miller Street Glasgow. I first went for a facial but since then I have had two sessions of lip fillers. Not to increase lip volume but to fill in the vertical lines leading down to my top lip that were giving me a 'cat's bum' look. I also had the nose to lip lines filled in and - the best result - the Marionette lines. It was a bit nippy, though she does put local anaesthetic cream on first and there's some in the injection. Some places were a bit more 'ouch' than others, but it's only during the injection and the places were just kind of tingly afterwards. My husband noticed, no one else did. I'll be going back.

hi, still suffering from the effects of fillers 5 years on. be careful. when they work, great. when they don't, you're left with a face you wish you wouldn't have touched. good luck xx

Had cheek fillers, no pain swelling or bruising.
A little in my lips, pain not bad but swelled lots
Tear troughs, no pain but terrible bruising.

Botox 3 times a year. No pain or bruising. Can’t ever imagine being without this.

I use a nurse in Bolton. She was recommended to me by a few of my friends and I instantly trusted her on the consultation. That was 3 years ago and I’ve no reason to go elsewhere.

That’s what matters I guess word of mouth and your own trust, oh and also that they are a medical professional and not a beautician in a salon!

his I just had mine done last week and I've got his pain threshold. the lady very experienced and won awards for best care etc. numbed mouth with cream then anisthetic and I was in agony every needle I felt full effect was like getting sewn without anisthetic. I couldn't wait for it to finish. she said her husband is the same the anisthetic did not work on him.
only throbbing and itchy that one night very little bruising. but I would not have it done again . the results good but no one else would notice. every body is different and has different experiences. I could feel and here the needle popping my lips . hope this helps
