What in your makeup bag couldn't you live without?

I'm on a mission to finally get my 'perfect makeup bag' or in my case 'box'.

I want the dewy, perfectly concealed skin. Glowing cheeks. Super long lashes. Perfect cat eyeliner and a natural pink pout.

What do you use that you absolutely adore and buy time and time again?

Bobbi brown BB cream & cream blush
Clinique chubby stick

minipie · 03/04/2014 00:24

Mac select moisturecover concealer

Clinique high impact mascara

for everything else, I'm looking for ideas...

singaporeswing · 03/04/2014 06:07

Clarins Beauty flash balm and then Lancome concealer. So good that I have stopped wearing foundation.

On days that I do need foundation, I use something light, like Mac F&B or Lancome Teint Miracle. 3 drops on each cheek and forehead, blended in with slightly wet sponge.

Eyebrows filled in with Bobbi Brown grey eyeshadow. Thin line of eyeliner, go over it with Mac gel eyeliner. Curl eyelashes and use Smashbox mascara.

Bobbi Brown blush in Slopes to contour, highlighter in a "C" from underneath eyebrow to top of cheekbones.

Nude lipliner all over lips and nude lipstick over the top.

Takes me about 10 mins, makes me look really glowy and is that perfect no-makeup-makeup look.

Missha BB cream - haven't touched foundation since I bought it.

Concealer - still haven't found the perfect one, but it is a necessity for my dark circles Sad

LadyFromLaLaLand · 04/04/2014 10:01

If I HAD to go minimal....

Bobbi Brown BB Cream
Blush
Mascara

whereisshe · 04/04/2014 10:50

By Terry Light Expert foundation. I have to close my eyes when I pay for it though Sad

Maybelline Full n Soft mascara. I keep trying others and coming back to it. I LOVE it.

My new HG is Korres primer (silicone free) which I have sadly discovered after it was discontinued. So I may have to stock up via eBay...

MamaPain · 04/04/2014 11:08

Lancome Artliner in Black- best eyeliner I have ever used, especially for doing the little flick, it lasts all day and I should be on commission for the amount of people I have converted to regular purchasers.
Aerin Bronzer is the best I have found for pale skin, second best would be Nars Laguna.
Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder.
Nuxe lip balm (in a pot).
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.
Sensai by Kanebo Mascara
Smashbox Brow pencil with the setting gel at the end. Or any other cheap brown mascara does the job.

For a night out or to glam it up, I like:

Nars eyeshadow duos.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous or Diffused Light
Shu Uemura Lipsticks

After reading this, I've bought a couple of Soap & Glory mascaras and (as there was a 3 for 2) a liquid blusher.

bouquetofpencils · 04/04/2014 18:14

After buying Lanacane anti chafing gel as a primer (thanks MN) I have now dispensed with face powder completely apart from blusher or bronzer. I look much more fresher and dewy.
Loving all the loreal nude magigue range at the moment for its simplicity. Benefit 911 cheek stick is giving me a nice springlike gleam at present.
But as for can't live without, I have a new YSL gloss stain lipstick in shade 13 reddish pink and it is fab.

FabMum1 · 04/04/2014 21:16

What about foundations, many that are light weight, long lasting, not glittery but will give me fresh looking skin.

Am tempted to grok to a beauty counter for advise, but am worried that it'll limit me to that one counter. What domyou think?

I love my max factor masterpiece mascara. Buy it over and over again love it.

Clinique airbrush concealer for under my eyes
Bobbi Brown BB cream for a really light finish
Chanel cream blush
Este Lauder double wear liquid eyeliner in brown- to flat line my lashes
Lancôme mascara
8 hour cream lip balm pot

MamaPain · 04/04/2014 21:42

If you go to a counter, unless you strike lucky, you will most likely only be sold items by that brand.

The best thing is maybe post on mn about what type of skin you have, what you've used in the past and get feedback from others experiences. Then go to the counters of the ones you like and get samples.

Personally I would say Nars Sheer Glow or Dior Perfect Fusion would do what you want.

alwaysrushing · 04/04/2014 22:17

Nars blusher in orgasm- a lovely pinky shot with gold. Laura mercier tinted moisturizer Clinique brow pencil, Bobbi brown gel eyeliner , Charlotte tilsbury mascara - really gorgeous. Laura mercier lip stain. Anything by terry!!!

CockBollocks · 04/04/2014 22:18

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is my favourite for dewy foundation.

I would go somewhere like House of Fraser/John Lewis, be honest and say you don't want to impulse buy and want to shop around. I would avoid benefit as they hard sell, maybe do them last so you have in mind what others have on offer!!

dickyduckydido · 04/04/2014 22:21

I used to use Clinique, ysl, Bobbi brown etc but due to cutting back I have recently discovered Avon. Not the old woman brand I remember!! I know its not fashionable, but I love it
