Summer wedding - hat, fascinator or good blow dry?

What are your thoughts on wedding attire? I've not been to a wedding in a few years and have a family one coming up beg June.

What's the trend these days? I don't want to suffer from hat hair by the reception when my hair will look all flat.

Thanks in advance.

I went to one a couple of weeks ago. Out of about 150 guests there were 2 hats, about 4 fascinators and 144 bare heads. I prefer hats to fascinators myself but do agree that hat hair is a problem. I'd rather go bareheaded than wear a fascinator, was bareheaded at my own wedding.

Sadly, I have to agree with WhoKnows, you don't see many hats at weddings these days. A lot do wear fascinators, but probably there are more that don't.

Thanks ladies, I think I'll give the headgear a miss ....

The weddings I've been to recently have been more hatted than bare.

The important thing is that if you decide to wear something on your head, that it looks as if it really is meant to be there. Clips or wispy insubstantial fascinators usually look like an indecisive afterthought. A hat or a more substantial fascinator always look better.

Hatted or fascinatored Meditrina? I only seem to go to about one a year now, so not so up to date. Agree that anything you wear must look as though it's part of the outfit, rather than a fascinator or hair accessory that you've put on because it's a wedding.

I do like a nice hat myself, fascinators are very tricky to get right IMO, I feel over decorated in them myself (well, I've never worn one, but tried them in shops).

I wear big fascinators to wedding, ones that look like small hats. People absolutely still wear them. I'm at the age were all my friends are getting married.

You need to go and try on lots, possibly with the outfit you'll be wearing.

Have you got a hire place near you? Staff are usually lovely and will be used to helping the uncertain.

I live in London - what high st shops or otherwise have a good selection? I've never bought a hat/fascinator for a wedding before. Have dress sorted. Thanks ladies.Smile

John Lewis on Oxford St has a decent range of hats and fascinators for all budgets.
Fenwicks on Bond Street has an excellent range but are more mid to high end prices. Hats start about £100

At my wedding last year there were a couple of jewelled headbands which I loved - headgear without a hat.
I personally love an excuse to wear something I wouldn't normally wear.

I get a good blow dry or a mini beehive and put a nice hair slide in from this place.
