LED teeth whitening?

I'm feeling really down about how yellow my teeth are (not helped by a snide comment from my mother), and I've tried to improve them in the last few months - whitening toothpaste and a new electric toothbrush - but I've found the only way to hide it is to keep my mouth closed when I smile. I hate it. The whitening treatments at both dentists in my town are too far out of my reach - around the £450 mark. I've avoided those places that offer really cheap whitening as I've heard that they're a bit dodgy, and not done by actual dentists. But I've just found one on Groupon for £79 (instead of £399) for LED whitening, which 'appears' to be carried out by dentists. I'm really tempted to have it done, but worried that it's dodgy - why such a massive discount? Am I being really naïve to think that it's ok?

whitening toothpaste does nothing.

whitening that does something can destroy teeth. You'd do better ignoring your mother, real teeth do have a slight yellow tinge.

which electric toothbrush have you got?

I used to have the same problem but was using a cheapy one from boots, awhen it broke I decided to get a better one, so i got a sonicare from ebay new, i couldnt afford a brand new one in boots but on ebay there usually cheaper and still new in the box, think it was around £45. honestly i didnt think it would do anything different, certainly didnt buy it for that reason just needed a new toothbrush but it has made such a difference to the colour of my teeth.

Im a massive tea drinker so teeth were yellowy but after a good 3 minute brush with this they are a few shades lighter, and thats just using regular colgate, nothing fancy. Ive heard the toothpaste (think its colgate) its called gel strips, apparently that is a good stain remover and took my cousins brace stains off her teeth when nothing else would.

Id try this first before splashing out loads of money!

As I was saying, I have a Sonicare one too - been using it for about 3 weeks and they look no whiter. Is that too soon? I do drink tea and coffee, so that obviously doesn't help, but they are really yellow. I know that it's normal to have slightly off-white teeth, but mine are not a good look! I will look up the gel strips though, thanks.

Oil pulling!

Is it staining or the colour?
I know toothpastes aren't meant to have an effect but white glo smokers one has visibly removed a vast amount of staining on mine and they appear whiter
I usually have staining removed by the hygienist and I've actually cancelled the appointment because it's shifted so much

My dentist was offering a bleaching kit that you do at home after he does impressions for £180 today or just £90 for top row. After initially telling him these no point polishing a turd I'm considering it now.....

It's just the colour goodasitgets - no stains as such.

curl oil pulling for one week at 20 minutes a day got my teeth whiter than they have been in ages. I'm an ex-smoker and regular coffee/tea drinker. They felt super clean, too.

I wish I'd kept up with it but 20 minutes a day gets a bit tedious after awhile. Make sure to buy a cold-pressed good quality coconut oil if you try it!

Agree, whitening toothpaste doesn't do a thing. I don't recall the name of the product but it was something where you put plastic molds on your teeth for the day, I did it a few times briefly and it did help... Sorry for the lack of specifics.

Doesn't swigging oil around for 20 minutes make you gag?! I do use it on my skin already. I'll give it a try in the morning - sounds grim but then I am feeling desperate...

'Tis weird at first but you get used to it. Mind over matter and all that, especially when I was getting compliments after a week!

The oil in my mouth wasn't as bad as trying to break the habit of needing wanting a big fat mug of coffee first thing rather than swishing with oil for 20 minutes first. I'm not a very great stick-to-iter.

Ok,I had the same problem.

Get scale n polish.
Buy a sonicare. Use.
Buy tube of blanx. Use.
Buy raspberry stain remover stuff that dentists use (amazon £8). That's a once a month job.

I also cut out red wine. Tea, coffee
And brush teeth after every meal.

My teeth look v v shiny now and much whiter. But they will always be slightly darker than ivory because real teeth are. And who wants bright teeth anyway?

Arm and Hammer Advance White Max Booster does work. You use it with any regular toothpaste. Its about £4 in Boots or similar.
