I think she looks great.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 24/03/2014 19:44

She looks awful in them. How does she take a shit? Where is her fecking arse?!

LordPalmerston · 24/03/2014 19:44

like the cut of theleg
the top half though looks like she could fit a small animal in there

SirChenjin · 24/03/2014 19:50

A white t-shirt and a pair of badly fitting trews in a poly viscose mix - she looks like a Matalan advert.

sassytheFIRST · 24/03/2014 19:51

Surely it's too make her look EVEN slimmer...

Bunbaker · 24/03/2014 20:07

"So normal people would wear them?"

I would, but I don't know if that makes me normal Grin

I used to sport that look in the 1980s, it isn't exactly revolutionary.

Redoubtable channeling Scottish mummy and taking a pop at SAHMs Confused

SirChenjin · 24/03/2014 20:26

How was that a pop at SAHM's?? Redoubtable made a perfectly valid point - she'd made enough money from her Spice Girls days that she really didn't need to do anything other than trail around after David. That's not having a go at SAHM/Ps, that's just fact.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 24/03/2014 21:22

I saw Stella McCartney walking down the street this afternoon (randomly) and she wasn't wearing crazy long trousers like she posed for. She was wearing skinnies w high stiletto heeled ankle boots.

I think VB's trousers are too long. I think a bit too big, too.

Fullpleatherjacket · 24/03/2014 21:30

Way too long.

Slightest bit of damp and she'll get tidemarks Grin

Not that I imagine it matters to her. Does she wear anything twice?

HavantGuard · 24/03/2014 21:37

That shape is in this season. If you have them even fractionally too short you look like this

Are Victoria Beckham's trousers too long?
specialsubject · 24/03/2014 22:02

they fit like someone else's gloves. Too long and really badly made.

long wide trousers could look good (for five minutes until the hems get mucky) but those are awful.

Redoubtable · 24/03/2014 22:16

"Redoubtable channeling Scottish mummy and taking a pop at SAHMs"

Absolutely not what I was saying.

The point I was trying to make was that she is wearing an outfit I consider to be work-appropriate.

AND

That, given her previous income, and that of her multi-multi-squillionaire husband, their family does not need another income. There are many husbands and wives who, in that position, would have spent their time on holidays and being a fashion wearer/hobby spokesperson for a trendy cause/being a 'personality'.

Instead, she seems to have followed her passion and THAT I admire.

Ecclefechan · 25/03/2014 05:45

I'm glad you weren't taking a pop although the way you wrote "spent years bringing up her children" made it sound like that would be a bad thing.

Anyhoo, I can't see how the trews could be work-appropriate; they look daft and tripoverable (fashion term I just made up).

paxtecum · 25/03/2014 06:13

VB: That style of trouser should only be loose round the legs. They should actually fit at the top, ie be tight on the bum and abdomen.
Those trews have a wierd thing going on at the lower zip area and are at least one size too big.

If trouser legs are dragging on the pavement they end up sodden and filthy if the pavement is wet. The dirt and water migrate upwards - not a good look.

It is bizarre that VB has the money to have clothes made to measure and they could actually fit her, but she chooses to look like that.

SM: A beige trouser suit - not a good look.

Floisme · 25/03/2014 06:52

I imagine having them drag on the pavement is the whole point. It means they're only practical for women who go everywhere by taxi or limo. But I quite like the loose fit; it's a change from overstuffed skinnies (I include myself here!) and long overdue.

JapaneseMargaret · 25/03/2014 08:40

I really like that look, although those trousers do look a bit too big.

Ujjayi · 25/03/2014 13:04

A loose fit trouser, sitting either on the actual waist or just below and almost sweeping the floor is a very chic look. VB's look is not chic. The trousers swamp her - they are at least two sizes too big.

YSL got it right (photo by Helmut Lang) . VB is very, very wrong (and also NOT a designer IMO: she is a name to a brand who gives opinions).

Floisme · 25/03/2014 19:26

It may not be chic but I still quite like it!. I am so, so bored with the tighter-than-your-own-skin look that this is actually rather appealing to me, although I'll give the trailing on the pavement bit a miss.

Coumarin · 25/03/2014 20:04

Ach everyone has stuff they've worn and thought "Hell yeah!" only to see a picture of themselves later and realise you actually look a dick.

I'd have thought she'd have people to tell her if something looks awkward.

I like VB though. She gets a lot of flack that isn't deserved.

In this case it is.

SirChenjin · 25/03/2014 20:12

Love those YSL trousers - still too long, but a much better cut and fit

madammecholet · 26/03/2014 08:33

The leg width & length could have been pulled off if they fitted her better at the hip/bum. They just look 2 sizes too big and are therefore quite unflattering...

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/03/2014 09:19

Have to say that,as an hour glass, long wide leg trousers slung on the hip have looked fab on me in the past BUT teamed with a stretchy top.

VB is loose all over an incredibly tiny straight up and down frame and looks a little swamped, although not that bad. From behind however it looks dreadful

laregina · 26/03/2014 11:23

Yes they're too long.

But I'm most Shock by the pic of her from behind - she literally has no bum!

MrsCakesPremonition · 26/03/2014 11:28

Are giant trousers supposed to make the wearer look smaller? As if she is a little girl dressing up in grown-up clothes or as though she is so tiny and fragile.
