Clear Plastic Mac! Should I?

Or would it be literally dressing in a plastic bag? I have come to that point when I genuinely don't know if a garment is a great idea, or a very, very bad one. Opinions? This one is Topshop

No, no, no Grin. Sorry, it's awful.

Plumpcious · 20/03/2014 16:23

Wouldn't you just be a sweaty mess after 10 minutes of wearing that?

Beeyump · 20/03/2014 16:28

Yes, I'd probably squeak as well. But there's something about it that calls me. This pink one doesn't have the same draw, thankfully.

Don't do it, if you get even moderately warm from walking or cycling eg, it will steam up inside.

turkeyboots · 20/03/2014 17:29

I had a blue one of those when I was 6. It was horribly sticky and condensation built up inside, wasn't nice.

BadgersRetreat · 20/03/2014 17:31

Yikes! I think if a model looks shit in the ad wearing something it's best to steer clear Grin

MrsMarigold · 20/03/2014 17:33

dreadful - sorry.

Onesieone · 20/03/2014 17:33

You're kidding? It's really horrible. Please don't do it.

PlumBear · 20/03/2014 18:39

See, I love them. Esp the pink one. But then, I have a thing about plastic macs (sounds wrong Blush I had one when I was little, which I ADORED. Prob not the right reason to get one now one, though...

Just out of interest - what would you wear underneath? If I was to get one, I'm thinking maybe just jeans and a simple t-shirt? although DH would still disown me

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 20/03/2014 18:41

oh dearie me no

burnishedsilver · 20/03/2014 18:51

I had a clear one when I was about 6 too.

Beeyump · 20/03/2014 19:00

Mm, I like the idea of pairing it with jeans and t-shirt yes. Grin

Beeyump · 20/03/2014 19:02

Also, PlumBear, I'm going through this 'thing' with jelly shoes just now as well. It's hard to explain. Sad

diddlediddledumpling · 20/03/2014 19:04

I like it. I couldn't carry it off myself, but I think it could look very fashion forward, on the right outfit which is not my regular jeans and trainers combo

Beeyump · 20/03/2014 19:06

I love your link! I have a new gingham skirt which is just crying out for the clear plastic mac I think...

I have always though clear plastic macs are seriously cute, but hard to pull off.I almost wish I could pull something so crazy off but couldn't!!!

Jellykat · 20/03/2014 22:13

Grin I used to wear one as a 16 year old back in 1979, believe me they steam up pretty quickly, which is NOT a good look.. Refrain IMO

EstoyAqui · 20/03/2014 22:13

GiniCooper · 20/03/2014 22:15

Once again, in case the message was lost.

Beeyump · 20/03/2014 23:16

Hahaha! Oh, folks, I think it's the steaming up thing that will ultimately put me off. I still have a hankering.
