Best Products for dry hair??

Help! I have tried coconut oil, egg masks and my ends are still dry and fried looking:(

Hi what sort of hair do you have and what products do you use?

I have curly hair but I straighten it (about 4 days a week). I used to have blonde highlights but dyed it all one colour the other week back to my natural colour to stop damaging it. It looks healthy apart from the ends of it that look awful, i just got a trim the other week too and got some layers put it but they look fried already :(

Try Damage Remedy from Aveda. They do a conditioner and a weekly treatment mask. I use it on my bleached hair and it works wonders. A little pricey but worth it - especially if your nearest store is a concession stall in Debenhams and it's 20% off day ;)

Curly hair is naturally dry anyway and I guess if you are straightening it that's not helping it! Would you consider being curly again?

The other thing is if you are using shampoo with sulphates in that is v damaging as are products with silicone in. Do your hair products contain them?

My shampoo and conditioner do, I don't really use anything else in it apart from coconut oil. I don't think I suit curly hair and it's a nightmare to tame everyday where as I can just run the straighteners through it and then that's it lol. Do you know of any good sulphate/silicon free shampoos that are ok pricey wise?

I like jason shampoo and conditioners for sls free and silicone free...i buy them online, but i think you can get them in some health food shops. Don't try weleda unless you want straw for hair.

You need to ditch the silicones and sulfated. Have one last wash with sulfate based shampoo to dtrip out the residue silicones then switch to body shop rainforest moisuture shampoo and conditioner. I use it on dd's curly hair. It us awesome stuff. Also they have a deep moisturiser mask for use once a week.

Well I went to a hairdresser last year who specialises in curly hair and advised me to use the Bodyshop Rainforest range as is sulphate and silicone free. I have dyed blonde wavy/ curly hair which was dry frizzy and unmanageable. It took time but my hair is so much better now! He also cut it dry and showed me how to dry it to make the most of my curls. I love my hair now! There's no magic fix for curly hair I don't think in terms of a product, silicone is just like coating your hair in plastic and eventually it creates a barrier so your hair can't absorb moisture any more. Maybe that's what's been happening with you?

I will be going to the body shop tomorrow then! :) Hopefully that will be it sorted, been trying everything under the sun really. Trying to grow my hair as well so doesn't help that I am worried about bits of it breaking off at the ends (though it isn't quite at this stage yet)

It will take some time. Also comb it when went and try and let it dry naturally. My dd's hair comes out lovely when I wet it, comb it then air dry.

Have you seen this new thing that they are trying to peddle on the daily mail (I could do the obligatory DM is awful and I only use it when absolutely necessary, but from what I can see every MN'r is a daily sidebar of shame addict so I'm not going to bother with that!) Nah, scrap that, just read the comments on the DM and it's slated!!! I currently have my hair wrapped in cling film and dosed with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration mask. It has coconut oil. We'll see!!

I too had tried every product going and nothing seemed to work. Ironic that it was really going back to basics that sorted me out! Best thing is that my hair looks good for a few days now, not just on the day I've washed it. I just spray it with some water maybe put a bit of Aloe Vera gel in ( its good cos its non drying) and I'm good to go! I found using straighteners literally fried my hair and it would break off which was v worrying...

My hair is constantly dry/frizzy but I have started using the new herbal,essences this week with Moroccan Arran oil and my hair is the softest it's ever been! Not bad for £7 for shampoo AND conditioner!
