What is your experience of Obagi products? Any horror stories? Or do they do miracles?

Essentially I have some strange pigmentation round my eyes and also a lot of red blotchy bits on my face due to spots (I don't ever seem to have more than one spot at a time but when it goes it leaves a big red blotch that takes months or even years to disappear). I look a mess. I was looking into cosmetic surgeons and still am but these products were suggested to me on another thread - I was wondering if anyone could educate me further? Someone on the old thread said they were "controversial" I think?! Why is this?

One specific question I have is related to the bleaching they supposedly do - what if they bleach your skin to a colour that isn't your natural one, so your face is not the same colour as your neck and body?! Is this a risk or do they just remove the pigmentation and get you back to normal?

And if they leave you red and flaky can this be covered up with make-up? I already plaster myself in the stuff everyday (make-up) and know the good brands to use to cover up discolouration, but realise it can't do much for flakiness. Is the flakiness very bad?

Have you tried a milder salon course of peels first? Or some light treatment at a salon. I've heard that Obagi is good, but is vvvvv exxy?

What is exxy TracyK? I was originally thinking of going down the professional cosmetic treatment route but since someone suggested this I thought I'd look into it!

Expensive.

CarolBornAMan · 16/03/2014 15:23

680 quid later I would say dont do it - it is good and did lift some pigmentation but you need to keep using it or it comes back .. the peeling is not too bad - noticable but nothing horrendous and the (additional and expensive) moisturiser kept it under control.

I had as good results using bravura products

girlnearedinburgh · 16/03/2014 16:21

Wow CarolBornAMan - that's expensive! I was thinking it would be a cheaper alternative to the cosmetic surgery route! Is bravura as expensive?

No bravura is very affordable. Best to do it now, before the sun comes out.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 17/03/2014 09:17

bravura skin peels are fab, as is their overnight Glycolic cid cream stuff. love em and cheap enough too.

I've been using obagi for a year and it is bloody brilliant. I've tried loads of things for literally decades. It's changed my skin completely.
It's expensive but has been worth every penny.

CiderwithBuda · 17/03/2014 09:41

I swear MN must read my mind! I have never heard of Obagi until last night and was going to ask on here if anyone used it!

A friend uses it. She gets it from the doctor who does her Botox. I'm thinking of going to see him.

TracyK · 17/03/2014 17:35

What routine/products do you use Pagwatch?
