could I wear this dress to a christening?

I'm intending to buy this dress to wear to my friend's bday party: [http://www.frenchconnection.com.au/dresses/scattered-animal-print-jersey-dress/w2/i7268579_2405786/ dress].

Do you think it would be out of place to wear it to a christening? I'm still to try it on, but I have other FCUk jersey dresses which seem to sit quite well on me - and I always size up so that they aren't too tight. I'm just not sure about the print and whether it would look a bit out of place. Thoughts?

Funny how the church goers on here think it is fine isn't it?

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops you obviously do not live anywhere near Travellers or you would not say its not real life.I have a friend who makes clothes for travellers and they are definitely real and worn for a lot more than the celebrations shown on tv.

They turn up to normal Sunday mass in all sorts of get ups and actually enliven the place at times with bright colours and showy clothes.

Not real life indeed. Hmm

Would be OK but think you could do better for a christening without being frumpy - particularly don't like the thought of it with fake tanned legs on a Sunday morning!

polyhymnia · 09/03/2014 15:07

PS generally agree that it's too short skirts or acres of cleavage on show that are most cringe-making at such events.

Oh I thought it would be ghastly, but it's not too Bet Lynchy at all! More spotty.
Just tone it down a bit

Thanks again everyone. I guess I can see how some are imagining I might look with spiky heels, big hair and too much fake tan, but honestly I'm not that sort Wink.

I'm a (natural) blonde. Size 10, average height, very lightly tanned, early thirties, not prone to wearing heels that I can't carry my one yr old and/or my three yr old around in. I like the print, may look a little dalmation (although hopefully more like a sexy Cruella!?) ... but I like that it's a bit different.

poly I know, I could go the silk blouse and slim leg trousers ... or a plainer dress (have many in black but don't really want to wear head-toe black to a christening either). I don't have a lot to spend but feel like I have worn my current suitable clothes to death you know? Would like something that can double as a party and a christening outfit but don't know if I'm dreaming!!!

How about looking for a colour then? Sounds like you (like me!) wear a lot of black. Why not splash out on a pretty colour.

I would love that Bit! have been looking for a decent raspberry/coral/watermelon coloured dress for ages (even since DH commented about how nice I looked in a blouse of that colour!) ... the style of the FCUK one really really suits me though and I can't seem to find anything right, especially with sleeves.
