Casual trousers for pear shape - Banana Republic?

Oh fashion gurus please help! I have recently lost a lot of weight and am now a 10/12 but am irredeemably pear-shaped. I have decided to give up on jeans partly because it feels a bit of a rut and partly because they have never been that flattering.

Since then I have flirted with jersey or yoga pants but I am too short to really look good in them; wide legs (ditto); harem pants (oh dear God no!); chinos (turn ups just make me look shorter), cords and moleskins (yet to find non-skinny versions which don't make me look like I should have a green Barbour and gundog in tow).

Help me women! Banana Republic looks a possible go-er - maybe? Does anyone have any experience of their trews or other recommendations?

I need a higher waist fit, straight or bootcut, not skinny, and colour-wise am after beige/olive/brown/aubergine, rather than black/navy. Anyone?

No idea about sizing, but they're 25% off at the moment (30% if you sign up for emails) & free delivery/returns, so I've ordered my size, 1bigger & 1smaller to try.

Size down at least 1 size, and if you're between sizes, size down 2 sizes IYKWIM. They really soften out as the day goes on. And yes, 30% off atm. Last year I looked for a second pair and they were sold out.

I hope you like them!

Thanks! I also vaguely wondered about the Boden slim bootcut?

Why do trousers often have pockets at the side? it makes one look even wider! And dont get me started on the low rise. I am a size 10-12 and that muffin top look isnt a good look.

Ok so I have ordered some Gap Broken in Khakis and some Lands End ones (also on sale). Will report back!

Newsflash people, Lands End won! (Now there's a sentence I never thought I would say, I thought they were all old lady stuff until a friend put me onto these trousers).

I never in a million years thought I could wear an ankle crop but these are pretty damn flattering - flat fronted, no fuss, no pockets www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Side-zip_Stretch_Twill_Ankle_Trousers/pp/P_26017.html

Only with heels though, ballet flats are ....ok. But I think I am still looking for casual trews to wear with flats...
