Following on from what to wear on a flight- what is the best for hand luggage? (Travelling with kids)

I am torn between a sports rucksack which will look crap but probably be practical, or a big loose tote type bag which could look better but drive me mad when I am trying to carry a toddler (/and her damn Trunki!). Or am I missing an obvious and stylish solution?!

I always do tote but don't have two kids to contend with! DP does backpack and always manages to look good and far more comfortable then me!

Sports backpack. And then things packed into that in drawstring/ zip bags so you can take out the toy and snack bags easily when on the plane and stash them under the seat in front.

There are lots of backpacks on ASOS. Be sure to include men's stuff in your search though.

Just large handbag. Throw the trunki away! They are a flipping nightmare.

Handbag will fit under seat so easily accessible. Don't take as much as you think. You really won't use it

Bag fits a travel changing mat if still needed, iPad for entertainment, and raisens. Can carry toddler if they fall

I use one of those foldable Longchamp bags, fits everything to entertain me and the kids and is nice and squishy for shoving under the seat and easily cleaned.

Ditch the trunki.

Please no more mention of Trunki hell, I know it's going to be bad!! But kids got them for Xmas and won't be persuaded otherwise!

At the ages I'm guessing your children are I always used a small-medium sized back pack which mainly held my stuff including a change of top for the accidents we always seemed to attract.
This was in the pre-trunki days but both DDs had fun pull along cases which were used for ALL their stuff, food, toys, clothes etc.
DH had a largish back pack with all the important stuff (electricals) in.
At the airport older DD would just about manage the smaller pull along, except for on the escalators, I would help her and pull along the larger case whilst DH carried smaller DD.
I was sooo much easier when they switched to back packs.
