Chelsea boots and a blazer

Right, you S&B lot . I saw a woman yesterday with a blazer, skinny cords, and chelsea boots on - she looked great. I usually wear a cardigan, skinny cords, and biker boots, but now I want to be her . So, does anyone have any blazer or chelsea boots recommendations? I'm thinking a dark grey blazer and black boots...

I keep thinking I'd quite like a jersey blazer so it's a bit more casual. John lewis have a few different brands at the moment. Not sure on the chelsea boots.

Russell and Bromley do very nice tan and black Chelsea boots.

i got a nice blazer in h&m last week. very impressed it looks fab with jeans. i want to get anothet one now.

actually just realised my toddler has chelsea boots!didnt realise they were called that...matching my toddler would not be cool!

clouds, I've bought a couple if jersey blazers before (both Hush), but didn't click with them. I'm thinking sharp tailoring this time.

Alpaca, I love those boots, but they're too expensive for my first pair of chelsea boots I think! I was thinking up to £100.

I just got some black Chelsea boots from Russell and Bromley and I love them - so comfy!

I got some Barbour black Chelsea boots and have worn them loads. Cost £85.

5madthings, they're so cute! I might get away with kids ones as I'm only a size 5. I bought all of my skinny cords from hush, I really like them. They're all cool wash unfortunately (which most things from hush seem to be?), and I had to have them shortened too (5 foot 5.5 inches). But saying all of that, I've got 5 pairs .

Don't say that Mama , I already love them.

Joseph and Maxmara are the best place for classic tailored blazers in proper suiting fabrics.

You'll end up paying the best part of £500 but if you avoid fashion extremes and go for one without shoulder pads, and don't dry-clean it too often, you'll be wearing it for the next decade.

Thanks thesaurasgirl, I love blazers, but I'm not sure I could spend £500 on one! I have spent (to me) reasonable amounts on similar things before, and have felt that I got good value as I wore them for years and years.

LordPalmerston. I think you might have a point. I nearly wrote that it was possibly a bit OTT. I'd like it more if it was dark grey, and if it didn't have the suede collar thing.

Far be it from me to be your pusher, but I don't think it's an extravagance to spend a lot on such a classic item. Investment dressing is a load of phooey as far as I'm concerned, but I've never regretted spending money on top quality coats and jackets/suits, which I mix up with Uniqlo and Zara.

If you can't justify the spend, have a look at J Crew, Banana Republic and Massimo Dutti, who are all good at classic tailoring.

I find Zara blazers a bit thin and shiny, though their faux Chanel numbers are great.

The 'county frump' look is only a worry if you're heading into middle age and did the BCBG look first time round in the 1980s. You can look a bit more urban and edgy by going for black or grey rather than the usual navy.
