Chelsea boots and a blazer

OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 14:19

Right, you S&B lot Smile. I saw a woman yesterday with a blazer, skinny cords, and chelsea boots on - she looked great. I usually wear a cardigan, skinny cords, and biker boots, but now I want to be her Grin. So, does anyone have any blazer or chelsea boots recommendations? I'm thinking a dark grey blazer and black boots...

I keep thinking I'd quite like a jersey blazer so it's a bit more casual. John lewis have a few different brands at the moment. Not sure on the chelsea boots.

AlpacaYourThings · 26/02/2014 17:08

Russell and Bromley do very nice tan and black Chelsea boots.

5madthings · 26/02/2014 17:08

i got a nice blazer in h&m last week. very impressed it looks fab with jeans. i want to get anothet one now.

apparently zara does some nice ones.

no idea re the boots.

5madthings · 26/02/2014 17:09

actually just realised my toddler has chelsea boots!didnt realise they were called that...matching my toddler would not be cool!

OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 17:13

clouds, I've bought a couple if jersey blazers before (both Hush), but didn't click with them. I'm thinking sharp tailoring this time.

Alpaca, I love those boots, but they're too expensive for my first pair of chelsea boots I think! I was thinking up to £100.

5madthings, Grin at matching your toddler.

I saw these in clarks last week and they looked great in real life www.clarks.co.uk/p/26101117

I saw a lady dressed as you described today but with jeans in place of cords, she looked very smart.

OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 17:24

Yes, I was just looking at those online WhereIsMy, but I think I'd prefer a black sole.

AlpacaYourThings · 26/02/2014 17:28

Oh sorry! Smile

WhereIsMyHat · 26/02/2014 17:29

Yeah I agree, how about asos

WhereIsMyHat · 26/02/2014 17:33

These dune ones are nice here

5madthings · 26/02/2014 17:45

they do them in red as well. they actually go up to my size as i am only a 3 or a 4!

they are lovely and very good quality.

anyone know where to get nice blazers?

also skinny cords. i tried some in next the other day but wasnt sure.

MamaMolho · 26/02/2014 17:57

I just got some black Chelsea boots from Russell and Bromley and I love them - so comfy!

popcal · 26/02/2014 18:22

I got some Barbour black Chelsea boots and have worn them loads. Cost £85.

OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 18:29

WhereIsMy, ah, asos has loads - thanks, I'll have a look through them on the laptop later. The dune ones are nice actually Smile.

5madthings, they're so cute! I might get away with kids ones as I'm only a size 5. I bought all of my skinny cords from hush, I really like them. They're all cool wash unfortunately (which most things from hush seem to be?), and I had to have them shortened too (5 foot 5.5 inches). But saying all of that, I've got 5 pairs Blush.

Don't say that Mama Grin, I already love them.

popcal, I did wonder about Barbour ones... Are chelsea boots basically jodhpur boots then?

Joseph and Maxmara are the best place for classic tailored blazers in proper suiting fabrics.

You'll end up paying the best part of £500 but if you avoid fashion extremes and go for one without shoulder pads, and don't dry-clean it too often, you'll be wearing it for the next decade.

OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 18:40

Thanks thesaurasgirl, I love blazers, but I'm not sure I could spend £500 on one! I have spent (to me) reasonable amounts on similar things before, and have felt that I got good value as I wore them for years and years.

I like this Barbour blazer quite a lot.

its a bit county... the blazer

and the cords together.... chocolate lab anyone/

OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 18:44

Grin LordPalmerston. I think you might have a point. I nearly wrote that it was possibly a bit OTT. I'd like it more if it was dark grey, and if it didn't have the suede collar thing.

OP posts:
thesaurusgirl · 26/02/2014 18:53

Far be it from me to be your pusher, but I don't think it's an extravagance to spend a lot on such a classic item. Investment dressing is a load of phooey as far as I'm concerned, but I've never regretted spending money on top quality coats and jackets/suits, which I mix up with Uniqlo and Zara.

If you can't justify the spend, have a look at J Crew, Banana Republic and Massimo Dutti, who are all good at classic tailoring.

I find Zara blazers a bit thin and shiny, though their faux Chanel numbers are great.

The 'county frump' look is only a worry if you're heading into middle age and did the BCBG look first time round in the 1980s. You can look a bit more urban and edgy by going for black or grey rather than the usual navy.

ruffles pearl necklace

LoveVintage · 26/02/2014 20:01

brown and black Chelsea boots on Brand Alley, others as well.

OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 20:40

I've checked the internet, but there are no edgy dark grey blazers anywhere.

OP posts:
OuterFromOutersville · 26/02/2014 20:44

thesaurusgirl, I had to Google BCBG - I'm in my early 30s, so I didn't do it the first time around. Thanks for the shop suggestions, I love MD, but have never come across it before.

LordPalmerston, I hope those are your pearls that you're ruffling.

LoveVintage, what's Brand Alley? Is it legitimate / real?
