Where did you get your favourite everyday bag?

I would like a new bag. It needs to be big enough for my purse, keys, phone, a nappy and wipes (though hopefully not for much longer), a few toy cars - you know the usual bits of crap...

I'd like it to be colourful and ideally with a bright / light inner lining (so I can find all my rubbish in it) and not too deep (for same reasons).

I have seen two I like:

Love the pattern, nice shape and size but someone has commented on the fabric cracking... Maybe she was just unlucky?

Also like this one...

If anyone can even suggest places to even look I'd be grateful. My budget is about £50 - £60 ish. Where do I look?

Thanks

I have three of the www.Miatui.com bags and they're great. They have bright waterproof linings, several inside pockets, a phone pocket, pen slots, an elastic thing with a key hook on so you can put your keys on it, a neoprene bottle holder on the inside (or you can use it for a wet umbrella or just as a general pocket). They also usually come with two separate pouches, one in the same colour as the bag that has a little hand strap on and sometimes a long strap so you can use it as a mini bag if needed and a clear one, both of which are sized to fit in the pockets if needed.

I have two that are called Grace (a pewter and a brown one) and a slightly smaller one that's red and I think is called Matilda Mae. I got the smaller one to try as I was getting so much into the other that it was getting heavy to carry around - and although it doesn't have all the pockets it's still a good everyday bag. THey also do bigger bags but I haven't needed one.

Full price the Grace are about £45 but they have some on the sale at the moment. If you look on their facebook page or twitter they often have discount codes around.

I've been really impressed with mine (hence buying several!) and it's the only bag I've ever had that I've been stopped and asked in the street what it was - on several occasions. Apparently they are thinking of doing a leather one soon so I'm holding out for that next Grin.

Have a look at their website - they show what you can get into them on the inside. They're great - and nope, not linked to the company in any way!

Lovely fair trade organic bags here!

Good thread.
I am looking for an everyday bag...I am sick of not being able to find things in the one I have.

Why do they have black linings????????
I want one I can wear across the body and it must be quite big...picked up a black leather one in TK Maxx but it's too small...can't comfortably get big Moleskin diary, purse and makeup bag in,

cloudskitchen · 25/02/2014 22:10

zipzap those bags you linked look great and just what I'm after Grin

Misssss · 25/02/2014 22:38

I've got a couple of Modalu Bristol/Pippa bags. They are expensive new but I bought mine 2nd had from eBay. Lasted well and they have cream coloured linings. You'll pay about £50 for a decent used one on eBay.

MrsBennetsEldest · 25/02/2014 22:43

Asda, bag for life but if I'm going somewhere nice I use my Sainsburys one.

bunnymother · 26/02/2014 06:22

There are good bags at reasonable prices at Coccinelle and also Marks & Spencer (Autograph). Zara also do some good leather bags. None of these are badged / logoed, which is v important to me.

Bicester Village - bought an Anya Hindmarch bag at a massive reduction and have been using it literally every single day for a couple of years now.

JustAnotherYellowBelly · 26/02/2014 08:10

Mine's earth squared. I won't use leather and fake leather usually breaks down too fast.
They do different sizes and the lining is truly lovely Smile

I have just bought my very first handbag. Its so handy! I wish I'd had one years ago!

Its from M+S I will try and find a link

Oh, it doesnt seem to let me. Its the large satchel bag from the indigo collection. I love it.

sonlypuppyfat · 26/02/2014 08:14

I've tons of Kipling bags really strong but light and lovely colours.

bluecheque4595 · 26/02/2014 08:14

Urban Outfitters. It is a little brown satchel type handbag and I love it, even though it is a bit scuffed round the edges from use.

chainedtothedesk · 26/02/2014 09:19

Thanks for all the suggestions. Will be difficult to work today with so much to google... :)

cloudskitchen - Grin They are great, I can highly recommend (and I have bought a lot of bags over the years, many of which were/are loved, including several significantly more expensive than these). The lady that designs them just seems to have got fed up with never buying a bag that was right, so sat down, decided what was wrong with all the different bags she had come across and then designed her bags from the outside in, making sure that they worked as practical bags before making the outside look nice too. And if you live nearby, you can usually arrange with her to pick up the bags from her house (which is great but dangerous as you invariably see other ones in different colours or shapes that you like... She showed my some of the colours for the summer and there are some lovely ones including a nice soft silvery one and a good everyday cream that wasn't too light or bright).

MrsDavidBowie - if you want an interior that isn't black, the bags I mentioned below (www.miatui.com) have eye-poppingly bright interiors. I have two that have bright pink inside and one that has an electric turquoise inner. And it is much easier to find things inside them when compared to dark interiors! Plus even the small ones you can fit loads into without them becoming massive.

chainedtothedesk · 26/02/2014 11:16

Thanks for this ZipZap - a bright interior is a must for me, a black phone or car key are just impossible to find in a black bag, especially at night!

Fossil, I have a couple of Fossil bags and they are great, especially if you like colour. My everyday bag is a Timberland bowling bag, DH bought me 3 years ago. Brown and lovely the leather is still gorgeous even now it is thoroughly worn in. Smile

Pannacotta · 26/02/2014 12:38

I am also looking, like the Fossil bags I have seen but they are pricey, even used ones on ebay.

zipzap · 26/02/2014 12:49

They often have fossil bags in TK Maxx...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/02/2014 12:58

QVC Kipling,
One brown, one black.
Largeish with lots of pockets for all my kit & caboodle.

And an M&S tan (pleather) for when I'm having a 'smartish' day.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 26/02/2014 13:19

zipzap those bags are fab!

Pannacotta · 26/02/2014 13:27

Thanks zipzap but never seen a Fossil bag in my local TK Maxx and I go there quite a lot!

IamInvisible · 26/02/2014 13:42

I love my Zatchels satchel.

zipzap · 26/02/2014 13:49

Pannacotta That's a shame - mine went through a stage of getting them in quite regularly. TKMaxx is great when it has what you want but really annoying when you know other people are getting something you want from it but they don't have it at your store!

I had to whizz through yesterday and they had some nice looking Brics bags that were about £50 instead of £100-£160ish, but didn't have time to stop and I bet they will have gone in the next couple of days!
