Upper lip hair suddenly really visible

What shall I do?!

I don't know if it's because I'm a bit under the weather so my skin is paler than usual, but my upper lip hair is looking really noticeable and awful.

What are my best options for dealing with it? How expensive does laser treatment work out and how quickly does it work? I'm suddenly really self conscious about it. I'm 38 by the way.

Do you bleach it? I use that Veet lightening stuff every couple of weeks. However, the hairs are getting a bit longer these days!

I'm also pale with dark hair - have been faffing with my upper lip hair for a good 15 years. I don't have a massive tash but it's certainly visible (at least to me) if left.

First off I bleached for a while but TBH that just gave a glowing blond mustache that was least as visible as it was before. Especially in the sun.
Hair removal cream was a disaster. Nasty reaction...
Then I plucked but that was sore and too much work.
Waxing gave me multiple miniscule spots and peeling. Charming.
The epi stick worked well but I needed to pluck stragglers too and it was as sore as plucking, although quicker.
Waxing, plucking and the epi stick all required reasonable regrowth before use which was a PITA and kind of defeats the object of the exercise.
Now I just shave when I'm in the shower. No problems with having to wait for regrowth, no faff, no spots, no 'allergic' reactions, no problems with my (stupidly sensitive) skin, no hair. Suits me down to the ground!

If I had the cash I'd look into laser treatment but, well, I don't.

Thanks. I don't bleach them, no. I sometimes pluck if there are any obvious thick ones. These are just soft but dark and long I think.

Threading is your friend! I get my eyebrows done anyway I'm while I'm in the chair the woman always booms, "YOU WANT UPPER LIP?" so everyone can hear and I meekly agree. Works a treat. Feels a bit like someone dragging a comb over your face, but it's quick and it lasts a long time.

Oh God, I had threading done once in a department store and exactly that conversation happened - right in front of FIL too! I remember now. It really hurt...but was effective.

Another vote for threading! It hurts a bit but is really quick :)

I had laser treatment. Very expensive but well worth it (applisonix)

It was nearly blonde but drove me mad as make up made it look worse and in the summer I could see it visibly in my car mirror

Two years on and it hasn't returned. I got two blocks of treatment.

Oh, goodness, treading. Yes. That is very good but it gave me ingrowing hairs

Lettuce isn't it strange how differently we all react? Threading is the only thing that DOESN'T give me a rash or ingrowns. I am doomed to a life of public pain. (Why are threading chairs always in the middle of a walkway?)

Jolen sensitive bleach is the only thing I can use as I've had numbness which lasts for days caused by other hair removal creams etc.

Don't pluck, it encourages stronger growth and that's a fact. Bleach if the hair isn't long or use veet/immac formulated for the face.

I have this problem too but haven't been brave enough to do anything about it, I'm a real wuss.

I have an brown-ish complexion with black hair (east asian) and my tache has become really visible to me. But if I bleach it, how do I judge how long the bleach stays on for? Will I just end up with a blonde tache instead? That will prob look even more obvious on me

Another vote for threading, don't waste money on lazer treatment.

Most people I know have their top lip waxed or threaded ( live in a mostly Asian community) but I can't as I am androgen sensitive and it encourages more growth.
I thought all Asian women wax/thread.

Only bleach if you have very fine hair or you will have the German porn star look (male). Of course, this may be an option.......

I have problems with waxing and creams and so do go down the threading option though in desperation have waxed (and admired the very many small angry red pimples which the waxee has to wear with not much pride!!!).

Plucking doesn't cause stronger growth.

Laser therapy is fantastic having threaded and waxed. I used tesco vouchers to pay for it. Took 8 sessions in total. It's been so worth it.

I know quite a few girls at uni who bleach theirs. And I have a friend who rocks her lip hair, which is dark and more noticeable in bright light. FWIW she always gets loads of attention.

I thought plucking gave the illusion only of making it grow back stronger, because it blunts the tip of the hair, or something, so because it's not tapered it just looks coarser?
